I seem to remember reading that battery life on the 7 was a problem when it came out. I got my 6 when the 7 was released as it was heavily discounted.

I read that too, but the price was so good I bought two anyway. Battery life is fine and I don't think I've ever had it below 50%, even when I seemingly spend half the day on it.

I traded in two iPhone SE (2020) phones for new Pixel 7's through the Google Store when they offered a daft trade in price (more than a new SE would have been). Iirc I paid about £125 for each, after all the discounts & deals. No brainer at the time.

I still prefer iOS to Android though.

Wifi is fine I have found. but mobile reception here is meh on the Moto's. But so is my daughters megabucks Samsung! :ROFLMAO:

Bring back external aerials I say!!
I sort of noticed that with my last Motorola, changed to an S23 FE Samsung and its fine now.
Had a couple of Motos, both had charger socket fail.New module was about £5 but looked a pain to change with big numb agric fingers & specialist charge £50
Latest is an Oscal C30. seems fine for my needs & only circa £70.
It's the stoor and shite that comes about with our job, gets in the charging port and sands the gold contacts away, regardless of what phone you have, apple are moving to USB C too because the EU have ruled they're using lightning to be awkward (usual apple). I changed the charging port on my last phone, wasn't too hard with YouTube tutorials and as you say £5 off ebay.

New phone has wireless charging so don't need to worry.

Buy an S23, you bought one of their budget phones and got budget performance, what do you expect? Even an A54 is a far better machine still in their budget range. Don't go to apple, they are theiving barstewards who make stuff for people who don't care enough to research anything else.
It's the most expensive phone I've ever bought, also the worst.

Contract an expensive option ?
EE sim only monthly £12
Oscal C30 £80
Assuming it does not meet an agricultual accident for 2 years < £16 / month
But is that good value for money? I would argue not. After those benefits I mentioned it would work out to be similar and its a simple fact that an £80 phone isnt going to have quality components / powerful enough chips.

I think they’re throttling the cheaper phones to make you buy dearer models, the trouble with a phone is a new one can’t do anything better.

There are some rugged ones available online that are also waterproof etc.

They are not the most modern devices but they will certainly make phone calls and install apps.

Probably about £200 or so.

Blackview is one brand. Never tried it though. Available on Amazon and other stores.

It might be better just to search google for a "rugged case" for your model of smartphone, those will be hard cases and usually water resistant.

Whatever phone you have, I suggest sticking an AirTag to it in case it gets lost on the farm... At £35, it's cheaper than a new phone - and all the time spent setting up a new one...
