I always had "one flagship model " back from newest Samsung galaxy s . 2 phones back I deserted and went over to " Moto" . It was a good phone with all the bells and whistles , but when I changed it next , I went back to Samsung . No real reason - I wasn't dis- satisfied with my Moto , but I still feel happier with a Samsung . Brand loyalty ??
I stick with Samsung. I'm never gonna spend iPhone money and Samsung does it all anyway.
Don't have the patience to learn how to use another system and can just transfer everything to new phone each time so easy, plus my tablet is Samsung.
However I have alternated between the S flagship range and the A range and - even though I don't use it to anywhere near what it's capable of - i do notice a difference in performance

Samsung are the only company outside of Sony to no longer make phones in China...
Might be worth going via motorola site for 10% discount on newsletter sign up (but need to perster them for the code). Just bought a Moto G84 for £250-£25 = £225 and happy with it so far. Won't fit into a shirt pocket like most smartphones (6.5" x 3" x 0.5"). Supposedly the camera is the weak point but seems okay for what I do with it. 12GB RAM, 256GB storage, think it can do twin SIMS if you need different networks for different ground (not checked that out yet). 5G for whenever that turns up. They've got some "early black friday" offers on other models too.
I'd just wait 6 months after release then buy it from somewhere like Argos for a discount like I did with my G9 plus. Official websites are always full-bore even with a small discount.

I've never had any issues getting a refund from an Amazon purchase. They are pretty strict with sellers (although I think all customers are secretly ranked mind because some people can and do take the pish with returns).
Recently changed my phone because the old one wouldn't accept the plug in the charging port. Ended up using a trigger clamp from the workshop to force it in and get a contact. Assumed terminals inside were damaged. Got new Moto G13 and very pleased with it, but blow me after a few weeks it started doing the same, difficult to get the connection when plugging in the charge lead. As it was only a few weeks old I considered returning it but was bought from an Amazon seller not Amazon, so not easy. Then I thought 'can Youtube help?'

Yep, very common problem due to fluff and lint from pocket jamming up the charge port. Followed guidance on cleaning out and removed, not so much some lint from my jeans pocket, but almost enough to make a new pair of jeans! Problem solved.

Anyhow, I now have two functional smartphones!

I found this out without buying a new phone. I found that a plastic tooth pick and the air gun did the trick.
I ruined it perfectly good tablet first however, so not so smart.

I have had 3 or 4 motorola phones in a row. The "shake for light" function is so handy with dirty hands and "rotate for camera" is very usefull to.
Downside is no parts availability whatsoever. Well, they are available but not realistic, I got quoted €100 ish to replace the screen on a €120 phone. I bough a little nicer €150 G53 in the end as I love the mentioned functions.

I absolutely love the karate-chop for light function, very handy.
In the spring, I replaced the charging board for the reasons above. Basically every phone I've had, the charging port has given bother towards the end of its life, but it was 2 years old and wanted a bit more out of it, so I went on eBay and got a new one for £4.50 as well as new camera glass with adhesive for £9 as I had accidentally smashed it and you could tell in photos. Anyway I replaced both of these and it's dead on now. I thought parts availability on eBay was very good...

The bloody stupid USB C needs phasing out. It's a really shite connector that always starts to give wear problems after some months as it's just not designed for regular use IMO. Built-in obsolescence no less.

I have to admit I never did a search for parts myself, asked at 3 different telephone shops and they all said the same so i figured there was some truth in it.
Anyway, the previous phone was a piece of crap after an update to the new android version. Went from 3 or 4 days on a batteryload to just 1 day so I wasn't to sad to have a new phone.

surprised you say that, I have found the USB C 'their best yet' connector. The micro usb I hated.
I do use a phone with a built in cap, so dirt never enters the connector, on my old phone with usb c and no cover, I was always digging out the connector with a pin, so I could charge it.
Also I tend to wireless charge a fair bit (when I'm in no hurry) since I don't have to remove the USB C cover.
but I do agree, the more times you plug and unplug these types of connectors, the more problems they seem to get.

Wireless charging is the way forward without a doubt. I first tried it on a Palm phone 10 years ago, brillinat, but the phone OS was crap, so we parted company. Wireless is not available at the budget end much as yet. My issue is with my Chromebook, fortunately, it has 2 USB C ports as the one is one the way out, inside a year. Wobbly as anything and yet plug is fine...

A cap or cover on a phone is best, as you have, I had issues with one of the old Moto G and micro usb, and just kept a slip of thin plastic over the port, held in place by the plastic slip-on phone case. The latest model seems to go 2 days on a charge, so this will be what I do I feel to save resorting to the pin routine ;)

I see, this is where wonder of the internet comes in though... DIY! eBay for parts and YouTube to see how to take it to bits. My phone seems to have support dropped just over a year ago so I won't have to worry about that. What model was your last phone?

How efficient is wireless charging? I suspect that it is dreadfully wasteful of energy. The phone and charging unit heat substantially and heat waste costs. Having said that, I have fitted a unit to my pickup this morning. The genuine factory fitted Ford unit is very complex and expensive [£300 approx] and even consists of a large cooling fan under the unit. The Chinese unit costs £16 and is far less faff to fit.

At present, I would not consider using wireless in the house or office. However I have not used USB C intensively on a phone as yet but have never had an issue with Apple’s Lightening connector. Next new gadgets will inevitably all be USB C of course.

Goodness knows how efficient they are, don't sound good from what i have read.

They are talking about wireless charging for EV's....

My iPhone holds under 8W-h of energy, so 1/125 of a “unit”, or around a third of a penny to charge. I’m not sure I really care if the charger is efficient or not - especially at a time of year when the house could do with all the heat it can get.

Just get an iPhone and move on. They’re the dogs doodars, everyone either knows themselves; or knows someone who can drive them if needed and they just work. Perfectly. They’re like ketchup. Or baked beans. You could survive on non-Heinz brands but in the grand scheme of things; they’re so cheap (on contract)…why would you want to 🤷‍♂️
