Only the bravest couriers come up the lane we had 2 chaps walk the 3/4mile carrying a kingsize mattress it's proper tight
Have you a handler ? If so get a good strong axle, out of a rotorspreader etc, lift up rear of bale chamber, bolt axle to chamber side with some brackets good n strong,
Let baler down on to side of wheel on chamber, stick a bale of hay under the front of chamber, strap around outside wheel on baler and lift it up and forward so it sits on wheels, and on bale of hay, let drawbar on baler to working position, and 2 shakels joined together to attach baler to tractor drawbar, and away yo go, all be it quietly,
It will be bottom heavy and will travel fine, as what sticks up is the light bit,

Keep axle for next new bed

I need you to be my mate, fancy moving to Dartmoor :) Unfortunately no handler or loader on our tractor. We may have to go down the round bale and loader route. Unless we can find a tiddler

How many bales/acres are you hoping to do without a loader ?
Up to 10 it'll be a bit of a slog but the wife's got good muscles and the 2, 3 and 4 year old boys are coming on nicely. We have our 12 year old daughter as back up if we can keep the fun going but she may run out of steam. It won't take long we're aiming for about 700 bales for us any excess we'll sell

Not to bad when the sun is shining. have a look at getting a bale carrier to go on tractor 3 point linkage, we had one that carried stacks of 17 which is easier than filling trailers

Get someone with a decent size handler and carry it in by lifting it above the hedges etc
plenty of stone walls as well as steep up and down and uneven surfaced roads / tracks either ;)

something like our little 545 jd round baler would be ok, can make the bales a bit smaller as well, just needs to be a bit drier generally that small square baler, but on the sort of old grasses up there it would be fine with good weather in late June /July / for the job,
much easir handling and wont hurt out for awhile after baling so less pressure on the job.
