Narrow Baler width advice please

Hi folks new member here we farm on Dartmoor and have decided to start baling our own small bales

However access is tight short of a helicopter dropping us in a baler we're looking for as small an old conventional baler as we can find.

Or an inline if we can find/afford it

What model should we be searching for in the cheap and cheerful old zone

Thank you in advance

When it comes to conventional bailers cheep and cheerful = mental torture, my advice would be buy the best you can and pray the knitter gods are kind. Welger are always held in high regard.
Yep thanks we've cut corners with the rest of the kit but alas for our pocket think you're right

H/H 945 and 575 have wide pick-up's 940 or 570, the 5 series are much better than 9's but like all balers unless you understand how the knotters work and how to rectify the faults it will cause you problems and remember no one buy's a baler to sit in the shed so most have had a hard life and overtime rust can cause a major problem with the plunger rails that's not to say they can't be fixed but it's all down to money.

width wise its only inline that would suit and can't imagine you'd get a decent one for under 15k. Balers tend to be offset even in transport which is NOT the same as travelling evenly behind the tractor, one side will always catch and you can often travel one direction on a thin lane but not the other!

359 John Deere and New Holland 945 are not narrow balers like the O.P. was asking for!
no that’s why i said if he can wagon . ie handle it
in line is the only option i bought one last night for a mates lad who is in lake district for that very reason they only 7 ft6, wide .
morgan machinery in kent have one

If access is that tight I would look at trying to sort that out first, it’ll make everything a lot easier! As said above though, buy the best you can afford. Little balers are a pain at the best of times!
