Just had it done this week, panels were running the pump and the meter was going backwards today

Did you have it done in a week?

They have just finished doing a small 2 bed cottage by the yard (standard kit out of insulation, new rads, ASHP and solar panels). It's taken 5 weeks since they stripped the old rads out, just before that cold week. Tenant has been renting somewhere else to stay for 4 of those weeks, with estate refusing to even help out with that.
Not happy, for something she didn't even want in the first place!

Finished this week. Started just after New Year. Synchronizing the gangs seems to be the issue. Some plumbers come and take the rads off and blank pipes, then the insulation and plastering can start. That was done about ten days before expected so the plumbers weren't geared up to start. Electricians can't do their bit until then,so the solar panels can't be commissioned etc. Fine tuning still to do but all in place.

Well, first 4 week period of Air source heat pump. Electricity used for heating 1035Kwh according to its inline meter. Solar produced 83.9 on output meter.
Approx cost for 4 weeks £308.
Formerly on oil would have been 425ltrs for month plus £25 of gas plus electric heaters, £30 to £40.

The big difference is that the house is much more comfortable.
We need more time to fine tune the timing and thermostat, this may or may not reduce power used.

Still a lot to do in getting house back to normal. Already used over 20lt paint.

Just an update re ASHP insulation etc. House is much warmer, needs time to balance times/temperatures. Still lots of cleaning and painting. Be warned it is a big upheaval in a home.

Will update running cost after 4 weeks. Solar not really producing much to help.
Are you in E. Ayrshire? We're just being quoted by Green Home Systems for a full eco 4 amount- insulation/loft insulation/ASHP/solar (also ground mounted as its a listed building). So jusy looking for reassurance the company were good? You hear so much about cowboys!!

Hi 'Ch5.
I'll just sum up each trade separately. All good lads doing the job very quickly.

Diamond Driller for two force ventilation fans. First on job pleasant and tidy.
Plumbers/ASHP Mathew Michie from Fife. He's the one who designed and spec'd the heating, excellent team, complete in 2 1/2 days. Had one slight problem sorted within the week.
Joiners/internal insulation. One was great, other was a waste of space, but job done even if held plumbers back a day.
Plasterer = from hell. I joke a bit there. Good at telling how good he was and very fast. Just got plaster lots of places it should not have been.
External roof insulation. Two men worked it atrocious weather and both roofs look OK.
Cavity wall insulation, one lad for a morning. A bit of insulation balls flying about but job done.
Solar panels- Excellent electricians neat job. Panels lads just 2 or 3 hours to set up. I dug trench for cable and levelled base type 1 for panels with our digger.

The above are the good bits.

GreenHomes themselves not best at communicating. If not for Heating team we would not have had confirmation of dates for job.
We do have an unresolved issue with the forced ventilation, which they do not seem to care about resolving. It is the external vent covers (mult flap type) which make lot of noise in windy conditions and allow a lot of cold air in to the rooms. Still waiting on completion certificate, and value of Solar for insurance.
Be aware house will be pulled apart, and redecorating is your problem/responsibility. Think I used 20/25lt paint on two hallways and two rooms.

Just to update March, ASHP used 993 Kwh and Solar produced 335 Kwh. looks that for April Solar will have produced nearly 500Kwh. (meter reading 823Kwh too date)

Ah thanks for that info. Great to hear they've been good.

Interesting about the KWH vs solar input. Hopefully today will have helped your solar hours.

The Solar works fairly well this time of year. Realistically don't think we can expect a lot of production during October to March as day light short up here.
Just worked out April. ASHP used 807Kwh and Solar produced 473Kwh. Supply meter showing 949 units so solar has been a big help.
Just looking at solar it's a 4.8kw array, so considering we were probably averaging 13 to 14 hours daylight per day, questioning how efficient it is. (Canadian Panels supposedly).
By the way there are separate meter installed for Solar and two on ASHP .

Good luck with your project. Is it Echo 4?
