Think Eco4 is a different scheme.

Dunno, it seems confusing.

When they evaluated the folks the farmhouse was seen as a residence so complied.
They were thorough, wanted proof of ownership, copy of deeds etc.

Its a bit late now, they’d have a job removing what they’ve fitted! :ROFLMAO:
Yes leave them to it but I know it had and has qualifying criterias and working farms dwelling are not one.

Where does it say that farm houses don't qualify? Every one of them just says you either have to own the house or rent it privately, not from a council. You need other things to qualify like benefits, income, health etc I know
A farm is a business.
Don't shoot the messenger, I just say what I found out the hard way ok.

If get away with it , then it's up to you.

our project is underway. likewise a couple of houses in the village being done. Internal wall insulation..100mm .. on the inside oif every external wall.. all rads removed first to enable access to walls and sparky blanked all switches and sockets.
If you,ve a stud wall that you want to pull down before they come then do it..theywill then use insulated battens to build back out from your old wall. (check that it is straight.. they dont check and just follow line to the wall)!!
Window reveals done with different stuff.. If youve nice window sills..remove them as they will cover them ...

After a few days of unholy noise, (funky techno beats from sound system) , every dunny in the house being used , dust everywhere, internal house temperaure matching outdoor as every door and window left wide open, a few tings getting broken and dogs being fed dodgy pies...i now have a quite cold dusty house...with plastered walls..
Every wet room- bathroom , dunny, laundry, kitchen has a fan fitted, these run 24 hrs a day at variable speeds depending on humidity.. But as house is cold as i haqve no heating , they are running hard.

Heating install starts 27th.. 2x 12kw ashp..

32 rads

Worth it, but check work protocols.. eg. make sure they pull up carpets. My lot jut put plasterboard ontop of carpets..meaning that when they come to run pipes for heating they are going to have to cut carpets up..

It'd better be worth the hassle!
Have you got an update on running cost?
Just had third survey team last night for Echo4. This one to size radiators and location of heat pump. Looks like we are going to qualify. Now wait on Solar and Insulation survey's.

Anyone looking to Echo4. If no one in the house is on benefits there is also "route 3", this is if someone has a range of illness's. In our case Rheumatoid Arthritis .

Hi I'll let you knowin a few days.

The plumber installers were/ are shockingly bad.

They coming to finish off on Weds.

In meantime i'm using a system that isn't lagged correctly and therewas no proper handover so i am learning as I go.

They didn't commision one of the 2 boilers because the screen didn't light up. Afterr they left igot screen working in 10 mins and boiler running 10 mins afer that.

They came today to balance the rads and lag the pipes.

They left having lagged about a third of the pipes really badly..

So. Yes.. I'll let you know. But a word to the wise. Ask them about the process of the install, who is going to tidy up afterwards. And get yourself into the loft before they leave to make sure all new pipes are lagged properly and your ceiling insulationhas not been tampered with. Also, get user manual!!

From what i have seen on two install by grant ,i wouldnt bother ,rough as feck
certainly not the best. i think that if they are watched and kept an eye on they are fine.
look at the bigger picture. You are getting a new system and insulation and possibly panels for nowt .

your house will be warm but im thinking that you will need to find someone to get the best out of your set-up..

we have had our loft insulated twice, only 1 problem, one of the lads doing it, couldn't fit through the loft hatch, so another team had to come out.

now, apparently, insulation used then, is 'wrong', and we get calls to remove/replace, still FOC, we are not going to bother.

the new boiler, external, was installed to a good standard, checked every radiator, and flushed the whole system, bit of hassle finding someone local, to check/pass the electrics, sorted in the end.

they left the 6yr old boiler here, and l rang up our usual boiler man, to see if he wanted it, yes. Came out and checked it over, and it was totally fecked, a worcester boiler, so we were doubly lucky, replaced before it died, FOC.

From your comments I am more likely to go ahead with Eco4.
Our radiators are over 30 years old, and had one fail more than 5 years ago, so maybe getting at risk of leaks.
Oil Boiler is at least 25 years old. (We started on solid fuel)
The insulation part is what we need most.
Do they replace any failing windows?

every time they ring up, several times a week, re insulation, ask do they do windows, and the answer is always no.

and we need some new windows..

l wouldn't hesitate if they said yes.

tracked down a scheme a few yrs ago, where you could, if over 80, or on certain benefits. I am disabled, and get a PIP payment, PIP wasn't on the list 🤬 🤬 and that scheme closed.

but live in hope, maybe a yes one day. But looks like l shall have to fork out for the worst ones :cry:

One turned up here a few weeks ago and reckoned 15% if heat goes through windows,85% through uninsulated walls so windows aren't a priority at the moment. Also said he thought the qualifying rules might be relaxed a bit because a lot are only just missing out, with houses that are far more in need of upgrades than some that are getting done.

That's weird, so 0% goes out through ceiling and floor?
