It’s the first day this lambing, that I didn’t go home in the buggy
It was so fekin cold and hail bouncing, so I chose the Toyota as its heater is brilliant, its grip on wet fields less so

There's definitely a run of watery mouth. Lost 2 this morning, with another very unwell. They've all had colostrum within time, too. One of a hogg's double and a strong single from a 4-tooth

I had no watery mouth, but lambing out I rarely do, but joint ill was a bugger though

Speak to your vet. Injectable antibiotics can fix it if started quickly enough.

I give a ml of alamycin, if caught quickly it worked for us

These are still in. I'm wondering if it's warmer conditions doing it. The bedding is dry, with pens limed between couples. Devon damp in the air, though.

You need to clean the pens out between each use and ideally give them time for the floor to dry. That's the only way to stop watery mouth.
I tried it all years ago, using the excuse "I haven't got time to clean them out". Once I finally accepted that I had to make time, I solved it.

Absolutely. It's been so wet, that base drying isn't happening. We've been resting pens, too, but this year is a difficult one. This is on earthen base.
You need a penacillin based AB and anti inflamatory,
A big hit of AB's is best. I use Trymox LA and 3 or 4ml. Plus 1ml of Metacam
If I get one that needs a repet jab I then up the game to Draxin, though I use a cheaper generic version. Still with Metacam as well.
Just got Synulox (1ml/20kg every two days) and metacam (1ml/ day) from vet.
Have you found anything that cures it? Have been using betamox here and even if caught early it seems to come back later.
Best knocking them on the head early imo, they only come back with bad joints later in the year once they have cost you.
