We just nipped home to walk round the easycares experiment, the ewe hanging a lamb that “ made me get the hilux stuck “ was lurking in a meadow with a lambs head still hanging out .
You can’t make this sh!t up, expensive dog bottle wend and ran back to the kennel, wife went for fat Dave but before she returned student had steered the ewe to a corner , I got one leg out and out popped the lamb .. seven hours later … and alive 😱

On yesterday's early afternoon check I spotted a ewe with 2 big back feet just showing.

Walked her quietly to the shelter with the pens in and there enaued, what can only be described as, a 'difficult pull'.

Eventually delivered a big single, alive, but just resembling a limp rag.
The ewe was flat out and showing no sign of getting up or any maternal instinct.

Left them both, flat out in the pen and walked home for some Metacam.

By the time I got back, this was what I saw....

There's definitely a run of watery mouth. Lost 2 this morning, with another very unwell. They've all had colostrum within time, too. One of a hogg's double and a strong single from a 4-tooth :(
Once it builds up in a shed very difficult to stop. Get them outside as the worst weather is past. We have just lambed 180 outside in 17 days of rain so it can be done.

Here’s a question for the outside lambers :-
We lamb one bunch early inside, mainly to save / rest ground
Moor ewes are brought in for lambing and a group from away ground brought nearer home.
I struggle to catch and mark up / ring the outside ones , if I go round with quad or buggy I end up with a mob following me thinking they are getting fed 😖
I’ve a 26 acre piece that’s got a steep front but a flatish top and does afford a dry lye and rushy bits for shelter , so … how do you folk do it ?
