The Rwanda Plan

It's not much of a legal loss for the government because the Supreme Court do seem to be saying that the principle that asylum seekers can be deported is OK, just not to an unsafe country or to a country which may send them to an unsafe country.

However it a massive practical loss and perhaps the second part is like trying to prove a negative and can never be satisfied.

Well, no surprise in this at all. The Supremes have merely pointed out the bleeding obvious; this doesn't stop deportations taking place, it completely stops them to Rwanda until it is deemed a satisfactory destination.

Would it be lawful to put them straight back on a boat to France (probably after finger-printing)?
Nothing in any current law or treaty we have subscribed to would preclude that. But we all know that France has not been and is not acting in good faith in this matter. Of course the French don't want even more third world immigrants staying there, they already have more than enough who want to stay in France and that lot are already making things difficult.

There have been rumours that the EU 'Border Force' are going to be instructed to take any who are found at sea back to North Africa. That would solve a great deal of the problem for the EU countries and, following on, for us too. But I'll believe it when I see it happen.

I write that because a French chum reckons that if MLP ever makes to be president, unlikely but possible, she'll be binned after a single term because she simply won't be able to do what she reckons about immigration. And that will see her house of cards tumble down.

Not that I reckon Labour will do any better here, or will even want to do anything more than seem to be trying to do something - they need more 'minorities' to bolster their vote.
