Jobs are great, no rule anywhere that says the land has to pay for all our wants and needsI seem to remember someone talking about getting a job in the town ...
Yes, but back then the British Empire probably controlled the bulk of banana growing land in the worldIronically the cavendish banana, which accounts for almost all bananas traded around the globe, was bred in the UK in the 1800's.
Is that why Australian sheep are virtually worthless? An inferior product imo that few want to pay
up for.
How would sir prefer his home landscape to be described?
You obviously really hate the uk .wouldn’t know ?
fat lambs here are worth big money & Australian fine wool is considered the best in the world by the Italian fashion industry, so I’m not sure where you get your information ?
tbh, when I lived in the UK, I always preferred NZ lamb to UK
maybe in the UK ?
SERIOUS money to be made from agriculture elsewhere in the world, why do you think there are massive private / family & corporate farms out there ?
do UK “hobby” ( your words, NOT mine ) farmers actually “feed the world” ?
considering the UK itself is dependent on imports for a large proportion of its consumption ?
sorry, but I think “feeding the world” is mostly done by North America, South America, Eastern Europe, Australasia ( including NZ ), China & India . . . Even with the various challenges of extreme weather, climates, logistics or politics . . .
again, sorry - but you lot aren’t “feeding the world”, so don’t kid yourselves that you are
the countries that actually ARE feeding the world, agriculture is BIG business
that is the difference
sorry

Feeding the world? Over the years I’ve sent a lot of lambs for export I would say the vast majority of what I’ve sold went for export. They didn’t feed anybody here.
I would say the agricultural production in this country at this present time could be doubled if things were shining a bit more in all sorts of ways in a years time I would say tripled because a lot are cutting backAll out bulls go to Italy. I quite like the idea of them being prepared in posh Milan restaurant‘s
Feeding the world as in the people of the world is done by anyone growing/producing food, could be someone with a veg patch or window box for that matter.^^ the truth
true its not as much money as it sounds these days, in the past you could retire like a lotto winner with that muchHmm well , 1.6 would t float my boat to be fair , time you buy a nice house and car …. Cash is devalued year on year on year … depend on age but enough ? Im not sure ……. Better left in farm no inheritance tax for the kids either ..
Fair enoughwell…
i would prefer if you didn‘t tell posters to « jog along ». For one thing it’s rude and secondly, some of us might find the posts interesting.
Merci beaucoup
Why worry looks like they can't grow a good spud either.Fair enough
In my defense the poster I directed that comment at was being rather derogatory about British agriculture, but perhaps I ought to let that by and welcome the diversity of opinion so as not to upset anyone
Gracias
Exactly correct. There are some ego’s on here that seem to think their country is soo much better than little old England. We all play our part from Bangladesh to Bolivia. And in every one of our country’s we should be proud of the food we produce and should not be ashamed to want a good price.Feeding the world as in the people of the world is done by anyone growing/producing food, could be someone with a veg patch or window box for that matter.
Nothing much is sweeter than that still get a kick out of growing veg and meat for my people.Feeding the world as in the people of the world is done by anyone growing/producing food, could be someone with a veg patch or window box for that matter.
No worries our premium product is appreciated by the biggest spenderswouldn’t know ?
