Deadweight £4.85 X 400kg comes to £1940.

It takes some very good cattle to get to 400kg dead, even if the price gets back to the magic £5.00 that only just covers some of the expenses.
Or are we going to be at a much higher price by this summer?

The big deadweight sellers (maybe 50 a week) are on a fair bit more than that,perhaps £5.30 so £2120,and with those sort of numbers there is a margin there.

If you can send a couple lorryloads at short notice to make up their numbers for the day it will be close to it.

You said if they are sending 50 a week.
they might get 5p but these big processors certainly won’t pay 50p more for it

Being quoted 4.75 for next week. Mostly O grade so probably be 4.65 for me. Do we think it will lift into may? Should i keep hold of them?

They probably may well be,the one thing I don't understand is the fact that paying an extra 40/50p kg doesn't make any more cattle

A lot of these would be no where near 400 dead 450/500kg live really good sorts though

10p maybe and be able to get a few over age and over weights in without penalty.

To me there seems alot less store cattle for sale this spring unless there being held onto until the weather improves.

If they were on say plus 20 p and that slaughter house was 25-30p
better standard price than the lowest alternative you might get to the magic 50p.
