Serious sh!t.

Given that we're still dealing with allegations it's difficult to say much more.

Surely they'd be better and send them back to France and complete the circle properly?

However, I guess that's what happens when you don't guard your borders!
It's the supreme hypocrisy of the ROI government in taking France's part in allowing them to come to the UK across the channel, but we are at fault for them getting to the ROI...

But lo! We forget that the ROI and France are EU states and, as such, share 'European solidarity'... let's send every single one that arrives from France to the ROI. (y)

Last diplomatic standoff between ROI and UK, I seem to recall, ended up with Boris the bewildered, standing dazed in the headlights, as Leo handed him a shovel, and directed him to crack on with the building of the wall in the Irish Sea! Bless him.
Little Rishi I guess, is faced with the same result. Bless him…Bless ‘em both, for the know not what they do…

Th only reason the ROI ever gets anywhere with HMG is because the latter is scared sh!tless of things kicking off in NI, that's it.

The ROI has no diplomatic, economic or moral clout, it just has NI to fall back on. (y)

Absolutely spot on.

Plus they've had an NI card to play with the EU for the past wee while, but that'll run it's course too.

Have to have their Brit bashing to distract the masses.
Yep, and to be absolutely honest and fair it has sometimes been very well warranted.

Being equally honest and fair, it is hypocritical that the ROI government have criticised HMG's saying that 'asylum seekers' should stay in the first safe state they reach, yet now spout that the UK is a safe country so they shouldn't pass through to the ROI.

Well they can f*** right off, utter hypocrites; they're always spoutng off about EU this and EU that, so let's return the 'asylum seekers' that the EU allows to come here back to the EU, i.e the ROI. All of them.

Of course the people of the ROI will hate this, who can blame them?, but fair's fair... 😐

I did wonder about that, but assumed they wouldn't be stupid enough to kick up a tirade without hard evidence to back it up.

But it seems they are.

Either that or they're trying to be smart and simply dump a clatter of their own asylum seekers in to the UK under the pretence that they came from here in the first place. But how would they even know where they came from without, horror of horrors, checks at the border?

Increasingly seems like it's just another case of southern politicians posturing in the hope of saving their own political skin.

I guess it worked for Leo for a while, but ultimately the cards tumbled.

Seems that Martin is the sole southern voice of calm and reason as usual.

Certainly be no cushy Brussels job for him when his political career comes to an end.

Just doesn't stir enough sh!t.
I'm not quite as big a fan of his as you seem to be, but he does generally speak sense and seems pretty straightforward. Mind you, I've been comparing him to Dr V these past years...

Oh not a "fan" at all, indeed I'm thankful that aren't too many like him.

As a firm supporter of the union, I just love the likes of Mary-Lou, the "ooh, ah, up the RA" brigade, and Pres Higgins essentially flipping the bird at us "nordies" on a regular basis. It just emphasises how much better we are apart from each other.

Somebody like Martin who comes up here and is nice to us and seems generally fair and reasonable makes things much too awkward.
