Quotes/recommendations from/for fencing contractors... approximately. 4000m of sheep fencing mid Shropshire....
Thank you @Wilberforce - @farmerm happy to quote but current workload would mean we couldn’t do anything until November at the earliest
hell, nearly £90K on fencing ?Please can you post how you have got on, iv recently been quoted £4m labour £65 - a crash barrier Strut, £4.50m materials - sheep fencing/mvf 15 year stakes. Sound dear to me for 9000m of fencing.
£43k of stewardship towards it but still a lot to find, will make massive difference than having to constantly move electric fencing.hell, nearly £90K on fencing ?
trouble is even with the grant you will find 15 yrs will go very very quickly and be prepared that some of those mvf ones will be leaning over before 15yrs anyway. Please can you post how you have got on, iv recently been quoted £4m labour £65 - a crash barrier Strut, £4.50m materials - sheep fencing/mvf 15 year stakes. Totally agree, but money is become less all the time & I'm quite confident 200-300acres well fenced allowing us to fully utilise it will pay back return on the money, far better return than machinery investment etc, we are in a big grass area, and if managed carefully can finish stock well, amazing how much time is wasted electric fencing & retrieving stock!trouble is even with the grant you will find 15 yrs will go very very quickly and be prepared that some of those mvf ones will be leaning over before 15yrs anyway.
yes of course it will save a lot in labour costs over the years ,& less hassle and worry .well worth doingTotally agree, but money is become less all the time & I'm quite confident 200-300acres well fenced allowing us to fully utilise it will pay back return on the money, far better return than machinery investment etc, we are in a big grass area, and if managed carefully can finish stock well, amazing how much time is wasted electric fencing & retrieving stock!
Yes definitely cast up the banks. Im waiting on prices for clipex & waiting to here if telegraph poles can be used or not..yes of course it will save a lot in labour costs over the years ,& less hassle and worry .well worth doing
but what i meant was how bout some other type of stake that will last longer ?
will you cast up the banks before fencing if they are run down ? with a digger as well , iwas under the impression that they would pay for that as well...
I would be inclined to use either Clipex or Fence n Forget creosoted posts. Grant schemes here in Wales, you can't use Telegraph pole strainers, has to be new posts. Having said that Fence n Forget do sell new creosoted strainer posts too.Yes definitely cast up the banks. Im waiting on prices for clipex & waiting to here if telegraph poles can be used or not..
How is your fencing project going ? And did you find out if telegraph poles could be used ?Yes definitely cast up the banks. Im waiting on prices for clipex & waiting to here if telegraph poles can be used or not..
We had a reply from RPA today on the subject of telewag poles as posts/gateposts. Can’t remember actual wording but along the lines of ‘ we are waiting for a reply/guidance from field support- this may take a very long time!’Yes definitely cast up the banks. Utility poles have been allowed for use in the Welsh glastir scheme.I would be inclined to use either Clipex or Fence n Forget creosoted posts.
