Behaviour and manners

Just had the grandchildren staying for a few days from Hampshire .
I have found it very frustrating.. no please or thank-you 's uttered ,table manners non existent!
As grandparents should we be trying to correct this or is it non of our business ?
We don't often get to see them and they are lively kids and if we aren't careful we will be spending all our time trying to correct them . Was particularly embarrassing last night when friends called by and had a meal with us

I’ve 100% no issue with my parents or inlaws pulling my little boy up on anything suppose it depends on your relationship with your own children whether they would take issue

I am officially a grumpy grandad! I’m afraid I’m always pointing out where manners are needed as I think they are important.
I didn’t see that much of my kids as they grew up so i am making up for it now

Treat them as if they were your kids is how I look at it. Yes I would definitely correct them (and do when needed)

tell the grandchildren, different house, different house rules, this is the way we do things here. I would be inclined to add "you are not in London now", but it may be wise to leave my comments out!

Maybe you gave your kids too much slack , our kids are polite and good fun , my wife's sisters kids are aresholes . Education starts at home

This is wife of stepson ...I put my foot down once and we didn't see the kids for 13mths ...its really difficult,
The kids are sent into a school breakfast club at 7am so she can get to London on train and then to afterschool club till 6 when she picks them up .....no way to bring up kids in my thoughts!

This is modern society , criticise and they throw the toys out the pram .
They'll want you one day

Wife’s nephew comes to stay a bit in the summer,I always remind him about please and thanks,he’s usually forgotten by the time he comes back.
