i want to mount my tablet using a 150mm ram mount extension.

Anyone mount there tablet successfully with a 150mm extension and a 25mm ball or do I really need the 1.5" ball. cant seem to get a 1.5" ball with a clamp for mounting onto the door handle, no problem get a 1" ball with a clamp however.

I said that

"Just a simple lightbar"

I said

Then it grew

FREE!!! ntrip caster RTK corrections were discovered

And they said I'd need section control

But no, it was an ethernet connected IMU I needed. The fields are steep, and my roll error was high

I'll stop now, I said

But no, I could use section control, even though it was just to turn off the wee sprayer at the headland

That's it, I said

But making my own base station was cheap and easy, I heard

No more, I whimpered

But wait, "can it make the neighbours jealous when my plough lifts and lowers with perfect precision?", I asked

And "will the seeder start and stop with meticulous metering?" I pondered

And "will xbee radio cover the fields where time and mobile signal forgot?" I raved

My advice is, DO NOT make it full autosteer. Stick with watching the lightbar, and correct the wheel yourself. I can only imagine how awful it must be for those poor souls who have went the "whole control hogg", and now have nothing to occupy their minds other than "what else can I make the software do?"

Holder is a Ram Mount Tab Tite

I'll recommend it. Good grip and every port is accessible

any chance of a photo of how you attached to the dash at the back, did you use ram mounts
Mount is a Ram sucker onto the windscreen, with the short version of their coupling to the tab tite. Let's me shift the tablet onto the side window out the way when it's not needed

Sorry no photos (too miserable to go back outside to the cold and dark now that the fire is lit 🤒)

no issues with it falling off with the sucker ? 3" suction cup or thereabouts

Yes 3 inch suction cup. Lick the finger and wet the rubber before sticking it on. Didn't let go once last summer

Spittle definitely works, though there's probably a far more hygienic method

Got one, my Panasonic fz-g1 seems to have a bigger battery it lasts for 12hrs, not as good a fit as I had hoped. Had to take off the rubber corners, could trim those down easily however.

USB cover can't be opened either.
Nice tight fit and v steady.

Are you running from USB port or from ethernet port. ?

Thats useless if usb cover cant be opened.
Any difference if the tablet is rotated 180 degrees in the holder?

no difference for ability to remove the usb port cover.

https://rammount.com/products/ram-hol-tab19-cupsu this type has a bigger cut out, would allow the usb port cover to be opened.

few things i can do with mine

put in a spacer to compensate for the bigger thicker battery, would need to be 13mm thick or thereabouts in my case.

possibly modify one of my tablet ends to allow the usb cover be opened.

This is my take on a holder for the fz-g1. The lower hooks are curved to match the way the tablet flairs out at the corners. The top catch can be flicked open by thumb when you grab the tablet single handed. All the ports completely uncovered. I'm one of those people that regularly use both can doors, so the mount arm just pushes round out of the way for access.

Also I side that plastic on the track rod end is a non contact WAS. The magnet is clamped on top of the TRE and the sensor floating above it in a chunky housing. Uses at 180 degree ampenol hall sensor like the one pictured bellow.

Does the WAS work well?

Seems a much easier way to mount than many, think its probably the biggest stumbling block.

You need a good WAS to have good steering!

Also interested to know how it works as I’m struggling to get the RQH100030 WAS to work on a Case with a Carrero sprung front axle and can’t find a linear displacement sensor that will fit alongside the steering ram as there is not enough room between the axle and the ram
