The whole ethos of it is flexible so we can make it work on our farm, not be dictated to by someone from an office who may or may not know anything about the practicalities.
That's good, my mix isn't growing. 50% birdseye, 10% aldi, 20% sainsburys own, 2%kp salted nuts, derogation on anchor for clover as there's a shortage of clover. Literally nothing has grown.

To be honest, I have had really good ground cover with 1kg of red and one of white.

The salesman I was talking to today said "You need around 10kg per ha of clovers". So I went in the middle.

Don't forget they are here to sell and not necessarily for your benefit. Plus they know if you were a proper farmer you would spend Ā£590 per hectare!
2kg/ha should be ample for clover... do your own germ tests is my best advice if you're being told 10kg

This is not comparable to the mix I have, which is why it's cheaper.

You don't say what quantities or seedrate

I said same seed rate as yours for Ā£10 cheaper , Lucerne is veryexpensive seed and dont grow in a lot of situations , Iwould not include it unless its very dryland myself
Most Annual Clovers will self seed if given time and are a lot cheaper than other types

Of course it's cheaper, it's got cheaper components in it. Linseed, buckwheat and vetch are cheap fillers and hardly suitable for a three year legume fallow. Plus you have picked the 2 cheapest clovers, neither of which are likely to last for 3 years either.

You still don't say what the quantities are.

Crimson will self seed , will last for ever if you let it seed
But to be fair that's the one year legume mix

Looking at your mix it's about where others are at on price , if you factor in the seed rate as price per kg
My normal seed rate on clovers would be 3 kg acre , but that's into grassland not in a scheme

Im looking at some mixes for sowing late spring this year. If you could drop the lucerne out of a mix, what would you replace it with? Its for a 3-year option on heavy soil.
