The AHDB meeting I attended the chap stated it was over 90% pre stunned halal.
Suppose it depends a lot if they are looking at by tonnage, etc. Either way, its by no means uncommon or unacceptable.
The AHDB meeting I attended the chap stated it was over 90% pre stunned halal.
The difference is very very few Jews worry too much about the pre stunning and will not eat non Kosher.65% of UK animals going into the halal sector are pre-stunned.
0% of uk animals going into the schieta sector are pre-stunned.
They are current RSPCA figures.
2018 BVA figures from the FSA were closer to 59% halal.
Still 0% schieta.

Is that opinion or fact? The difference is very very few Jews worry too much about the pre stunning and will not eat non Kosher.
Most muslims will only take Halal but are not too worried about the method used.
both religions insist that the animal must be unharmed and whole before slaughter.
I do not hold with any excuse for not stunning
The amount of animals killed by either non stun method is about 1% for cattle approx .5 % for either method
it is the sheep trade where 25% is killed by non stun Halal with virtually no schectia. Goats about 7% halal
broiler chickens 9% halal 1% schectia
and finally turkeys 1% schectia
Both methods are identical except for the words used.
a bigger problem may be that quite a large proportion of animals particularly sheep approximately 45% are slaughtered by pre stun halal and many may not be happy to know that the levels of stunning may be very low
Well you wouldn't have to have travelled very far at all to have encountered unlabelled Kosher slaughtered Beef @Tomo23 . Plenty sold from a well known Stoke slaughterhouse. This, 100%.
Jews will only consume fore quarter meat, so where are the hind quarters going. Someone's buying it unbeknown. Firstly the method it was killed and secondly, another religion has blessed it.
I'm not the most travelled of folk but I've never seen any labelled as such.

I do! I am not in the least bit antisemitic and am a strong supporter of Israel, but that doesn't mean I think the Jewish faith any more rational than Islam, Christianity or that one with the Flying Spaghetti Monster. Kosher slaughter is utterly immoral and should be banned, full stop. Why when this comes up is there always mention of Muslims and no mention of Jews ?
Why is it then ?I do!
Because of ignorance of what kosher slaughter involves and / or fear of being accused of antisemitism. Why is it then ?
Very much the latter I would think,Because of ignorance of what kosher slaughter involves and / or fear of being accused of antisemitism.
It did, but there was no scientific understanding of it back then, nor a real higher power to 'reveal' the truth of it either.imagine if electricity existed when the bible was written!!!
Perhaps I should have written “functional electricity”It did, but there was no scientific understanding of it back then, not a real higher power to 'reveal' the truth of it either.
