Not correct, fuel and electricity are chaeper than after covid when derv was around £2 a litre. Funny how down prices takes a while to come through but up prices are near enough immediate even to the point they were rising the prices of equipment already ordered on a waiting list. If they have to limit production or go bust because of less demand theyl get very little sympathy from the rest of us that theyr just screwing at any given chance
Fuel may be slightly cheaper at the moment however is on an upward trajectory again, electricity has only increased here since Covid, I've had 3 price increases along with 2x water rate hikes.
When in history has the price of a new tractor come down?.....................I'm not saying they shouldn't I'm saying they won't

Fuel is alot cheaper, electric is a fair bit cheaper, shipping has came down, steel has came down, no real component shortage anymore so where is thier excuse. Theyr just keepin milkin the cow dry and its gonna come to a head eventually

looking to upgrade a few things and offset some tax in the process but not overpay....has anyone had quotes for tractors or machinery in 2024 and if so what were they if you dont mind posting? ive been told dealers were now stuck with stock they cant shift but are they prepared to drop? waiting on quotes back from MF,fastrack and NH

I know JCB telescopics haven’t dropped in price - yet. Order to delivery is now about 8 weeks. 538-70 Agri Xtra (150hp) with the cvt gearbox is £92,000 after discount on farm with 3 yr full warranty or upto 3000 hours. Equivalent Kramer and Merlo prices not arrived yet.
That new price with the warranty certainly makes the 2000 hour used ones look expensive.
10 year old JCB’s under £25,000 with 7000hrs on them look much better value though.

Saw an ex demo Merlo 42.7 advertised the other day just shy of 100K🤪

Tbh do you blame him? Prices have been pushed ridiculously hard against us by manufacturers, steel and energy increases were used as excuses for price rises and they are now back down, don’t think it’s out of the way to expect prices to come back.

From his posts he works hard for his business so I don’t blame anyone for wanting to get the best value for what they are spending, don’t think he needed to mention it’s for tax purposes he’s spending but hey ho if he can justify that to himself then I don’t see what’s wrong with wanting best value for what he’s spending.
tongue in cheek Andy!

i would quote them but im yet to be convinced that tieing up an extra 40k per tractor can be good business sense, i could upgrade some implements with that 40k? or buy some of the best bulls or breeding heifers in the country?
Have you got a quote for a fendt? Surely itd be worth getting a quote for 1 of them anyway

I was talking to someone who'd been talking to an employee of a local machinery dealership (main tractor brand), he (the employee) said they are on their knees at the moment, no one is buying anything. Mixture of BPS going and people moving over to SFI options needing less machinery to deliver.

But I suspect this won't translate into lower sticker prices for kit, anyone who walks through the door asking about buying something will be seen as a fool to be parted from his money to try and prop up their bottom line. It'll take dealerships going into receivership and the stock being sold off for whatever cash they can get for that to happen, which probably won't be for a while yet.

Local farmer did this had demo of fendt, massey and JD all same size and vario. Ended up with massey and new kv plough with press for the same price as JD/Fendt but each to their own how they run business and what is required.

Problem is when he comes to swap the Massey in he will have to swap the plough press and the combi to be able to afford to buy another one…

Keep your hands off the chequebook and pay some tax.

Patience young grasshopper. They're not desperate enough yet......who knows, at the rate the economy is slowing down, they'll be running "buy one get one free" deals on new tractors shortly.
I'd generally pay some tax, so I can move the money elsewhere.
Tying it up in yet more depreciating toys holds scant joy for me.

Worse, over here, if your subs are making up the profit, what it means is you're simply shunting the subs to the tractor dealer.
