Too cold

The lad on the gritter stopped a few days ago told me a few years ago he was gritting one of the roads up to the quarries it was blizzarding I was leading ewes and lambs in and they were lambing like fuk as he put it. He said it looked like a nightmare to him leading them all in something he will never forget so he said
I can’t remember this but I suppose it’s no good us saying any of this hasn’t happened before

I think its still too cold at night to put cows with young calves out. The forecast is dry and cold but ground is wet and nights are cold. I might still do it though , next week

I think adrenaline gets us through.
I was watching a YouTube other day of lambing in the mud wind and rain and thought it looks shocking , terrible.....then I realised it's just exactly what we've just been through..... When it's happening you don't seem to realise how bad it actually is!

Snap, 2 slurry pits about overflowing. Even the rough hill ground I don’t think I can get too. All the dry ground has been covered at least once and is now white with sheep.
We’ve spent a fair bit of time shifting shyt this winter, don’t know about you but there seems as if there’s twice as much of it this time just must be the amount of water about on the go

I lost a few lambs last year after I turned them out I was in a pretty bad mood about it for a while
It came snow and a colds wind and it just clobbered a fair few
I delegated myself the job of picking them up and bringing any ewes in that had lost a lamb or both and set lambs onto them
Didn’t want to demoralise the staff it was only the first week then it was ok after that
