Yes far too late don’t even think about it. I’m not saying this because I need the price to go up for my unsold barley, honestNot too late at all. Still another 3 weeks of April yet.
Drilled some 20th April last year into heavy ground. Best yielding SB last harvest.
Would it be better to apply urea before drilling with a combi or after to spring barley?
This is all hypothetical of course…
We always try to put half the fert into the ploughing then the other half on just as it comes throughWould it be better to apply urea before drilling with a combi or after to spring barley?

Normal rates for us is about 215 kg/haAsking for a friend: what happens if you drill SB at some where near 220+kgs / ha ???
Some dryer days forecast and generally higher pressure https://www.netweather.tv/weather-forecasts/uk/7-day/8729~DingwallHad to dig drill out this morning, not the best season to buy a drag drill given up on that field for a week plus. Not sure I have much else I can do without a week of dry either, maybe 35 acre. Forecast looks to be sh!t for the week for us too trouble is the surface is dry but not very far under its porridge in random places so so easy to get caught out.
There's a couple trying round this way one is straight behind the plough the other isn't it'll not be fancy .Had to dig drill out this morning, not the best season to buy a drag drill given up on that field for a week plus. I've been finding that out today too.Had to dig drill out this morning, not the best season to buy a drag drill given up on that field for a week plus. It grows! What is your friend's thousand grain weight? They need to be sowing 430 seeds/m2+ now.Asking for a friend: what happens if you drill SB at some where near 220+kgs / ha ???
Hypothetically, if you have incorporated the urea with the combi, you have mitigated the risk of volatilisation. I'm sure a FACTS advisor would be happy to sign that off. I'm assuming it's untreated urea?Would it be better to apply urea before drilling with a combi or after to spring barley?

Upped mine to 220kg/ha today. Plenty seed. That's 10% increase. It grows! What is your friend's thousand grain weight? They need to be sowing 430 seeds/m2+ now.
That was on the lower side of "traditional" seed rate.Asking for a friend: what happens if you drill SB at some where near 220+kgs / ha ???
Mine will get 250kg ha Piamon spun on to be incorporated by combi drill, then some Pulan on top. In a normal dry spring here, the seedbed N might be the only N the crop gets hold of until mid May.Would it be better to apply urea before drilling with a combi or after to spring barley?
