SIM card in Fendt with AGI 4 receiver

Hello all. I’m wanting to build my own base station following instructions in a different conversation on this forum.

my tractor is a 2014 Fendt which has been used with RTK by the previous owner. I’m thinking I’ll need to get my own SIM card to put in it but I can’t find where the SIM card goes? Any suggestions on if i actually do need my own sim and if so where it is? I’ve had the roof hatch off and taken a photo of the inside.

Yes you will change the Ntrip settings, so for rtk2go,

You will put:
Ip address: rtk2go.co
Port: 2101
Mount name:Topittom's base station name
Username: Topittoms email address
Password: Leave blank

Yes you will need a Sim card and a modem of sorts.

Looking at the modem set to 2G, I think you may find if you have a modem it won't work on 4G, I'm just guessing! Will still work on 2G as data required is very low.

Thanks Andy, after reading a few threads on here it seems a 2g modem is fine, although some of the threads are quite old so not sure. I can’t find where the actual SIM card is as well haha

Is it inside the dome? I think they have a snap-in module.

Ahh yes that looks like the right place to look, thanks again. Haha indeed. Do you have any knowledge on which SIM cards to get?
I've just ordered a multi-network SIM that automatically uses the strongest signal of the 4 major networks, EE, Vodafone, O2 and Three.

From here:

Under £12/month for 2GB 4 network Unsteered SIM.

Whether this only works for 4G I don't know!

Be careful with the ejector button for the SIM - even in the Fendt manual, it tells you they're easy to break. Which begs the question "well make them bloody stronger then???"

Isn't that warning for the more recent Fendt models?

The SIM slot is visible in the photo above (front left of the plug-in modem), no separate eject button, just press the sim card and it ejects enough to be removed. Does not harm to be careful with the older HW too.

Can confirm V12 sims works on 2G , I have the 4 network unsteered sim also, and 3G has now been turned off in my area so it has defaulted back to 2G and works fine.

Also quick question re the caster. Is mounting it at height important or not?
Just so it has a decent view of the sky - so above roof lines, trees etc. I've two here at the house - decadence! - and the lower one catches satellites later, and loses them sooner.

Thanks. is there any detriment joining 2 aerial extensions together? I need to mount the box somewhere to pick up WiFi and then run the receiver to a good location. Probably about 20-30m is the distance

Try to keep it as short as you can, there's a 20m extension I got off Amazon that seems fine
