Hi,
I’m selling a tractor to a lad in Poland. He says he has no VAT number. What is the best thing to do? Thanks in advance.

Is it not zero rate on goods leaving the UK to Europe unless sending from Northern Ireland? You need to keep proof that the item has left the UK

No VAT on goods exported, but you must obtain evidence of export. He will have to pay Polish VAT , but that is up to him.
If you cannot produce evidence it was exported directly then you will be liable to pay the VAT, so make sure you use a reliable exporter
