Latest NE are to seek permission to appeal the court’s decision at Tuesdays hearing. Just received 500 plus page document from them!!
I'd go to your MP and the sec of state, and offer, instead of wasting more public money, and your time, that they appoint someone to mediate.
All NE are doing now, even if they beat you, is to make themselves look officious, and untouchable.
They're already wondering why I'm denying them access.....

I'll mediate, jointly with a rep from RICS for £50 plus vat per hour, (and decide to whom the bill falls).

I'll predict they won't accept binding mediation unless imposed politically. It'd mean accepting limits to their power and risk blowing up their authority.

Just like the Horizon scandal, double down and never admit fault.

Reminds me of when ThWAiTeS closed down the brewary in the center of Blackburn and the signage on the top of the building went faulty with the h,i.and e not lighting up. Made me laugh anyway.

These folk need to remember the true meaning of the term 'civil servants'.
The term comes from the non-elected people [civil] that undertake the wishes of their masters [so are servants] - masters are not I and you, but those that have been politically elected.
They are servants of politicians - not us. They are there to see the implementation of the wishes of their masters, are paid by them and therefore by us.

They are "our" servants only in as much as we decide who are their "masters" - they do not answer to you or I.

Really? And what are they going to lock him up for burning biomass illegally? I dont think so.. He is home dry now thankfully and set case law for everyone else.. Well done...
That's optimistic - I had a case thrown out as fabricated and "appallingly little effort put into the fabrication of contemptuous narratives to be worthy of consideration " over a planning matter , two weeks later new criminal charges alleging animal cruelty from the same council fortunately again the incompetence of them saved the day as the photo evidence wasn't of my land and the digital files had tracked changes including notes on how to stick me and the councils solicitor instructions to make.sure allegations were "teapots round the sun that cant be disproved irregardless of the reality".

Two years later they launched the same proceedings again with slight variation on dates. The Public sector often fills with vindictive and low ability people, the same way as rubbish collects on a wear in a drainage ditch. It needs regular cleaning out otherwise it becomes a power welding experiment for Jo other reason than itself.

But elected politicians are not our 'masters', they are representatives of the people.

I agree that people in these sort of positions can tend to band together if they find something going against them- that very thing happened to my old man. These sorts of people can become petty-minded and vindictive and have a vast amount of time to draft letters and fudge about trying to nail you. If they can't do it individually they then gather their mates from the same or different departments. My father had a falling out with some dude in a sundry local authority department, not much later another individual from the highways started chirping up trying to create an issue out of something that had hiterto never been mentioned or ever been an issue. It was a complete lark and the old man cut them all off at the ankles by threatening to write to the office of deputy PM about it (or similar, I can't remember the details). It all suddenly went very quiet then and neither individual was ever heard from again. Of course Dad had friends on the inside of the local authority and knew the inside track on what to say, do and write.
