Migrant hotels in rural locations.

70 migrants awaiting asylum hearings moving into a hotel in a rural area location with no local services to speak of near me. All likely to be young men of an entirely different culture with nothing to do and time on their hands.
Anyone have experience of similar circumstances and the impact locally. Are they likely to be a problem?
Police response time measured in days hereabouts.

Around us there's around four hotels that I know of housing migrants. All are set in rural areas without bus service or facilities. Seen an odd one or two walking the lanes but can't say there have been any problems.

One other point is that these places now look a bit run down and not a lot of maintenance going on. One of the hotels used to be a wedding venue, seems a shame to see in a bad state but I suppose it is guaranteed income for the owner.

Having spoken to a chap working on the intake and processing of migrants at Folkestone I’m not too sure many of them would appreciate being told what to do. I’m sure it’s wrong to use the same brush but his opinion was of people that expected certain treatment they had heard about and didn’t like the process when they arrived.

no clue as I don't know the specifics and your environment being North Somerset. But it beats sitting on your arse complaining.
Where is there any mention of a complaint in my post?
Sounds like you are nothing more than a smart ass with bright ideas about what others should do in circumstances you have no knowledge of but dodge the issue when asked to front up. You should be a Lib Dem politician. Jog on son.

Struggling to get labour for the potato grader. Priti, George and the blue rinse brigade says suck it up and invest in robots. Robots are not as good as George would have you believe. Meantime some good lads stuck in hotels in limbo. I will ask Nigel Farage what he thinks. In fact Nige might take a turn on the grader - good chap that he is.

Is it that bad on the grader? I once had a look round a small grading line while I was picking up a load of bagged beet pulp from a warehouse south of Lincoln. It looked a nice steady job, indoors out of the rain. Folk chatting away, not over busy. The robot stacking the bags of pulp on pallets looked like it had drawn the short straw.

I wonder how much cost in terms of legal fees and civil service time these unfortunate souls incur, let alone in accommodation? I’ll bet it runs to hundreds of thousands per person. And when all said and done if somebody arrives here with no proof of identity, no paperwork whatsoever then how can anybody know whether their claim for asylum is valid or not. It’s a broken system no doubt exploited by many, migrants, civil service and legal professionals while deserving cases probably dint get a look in, but least because they can’t actually get here. What a mess.
