Hi,
Does anyone have any advice please for the net continually running through the bale.
Knife has been changed!
Have been told it could possibly be the clutch on the net!!

Surely if this is the case the issue is the knife not cutting cleanly somewhere along the knife edge or somewhere along the anvil. These two items need to be clean and flat the whole way along from one end to the other. Probably also check the cocking mechanism for the knife is working properly cos if the knife arm isn't brought back the whole way it won't swing with enough force to cut the net

Also check the sprag clutch, if the net is being cut cleanly the rollers may still be feeding it in, also reliable power supply is a big thing, if it's tripping twice and feeding the net in before the knife is reset it'll keep dragging net in indefinately.

Also if the net is partially cut it'll be a knife/anvil issue and the bit of the net that's not cut will be the area of the knife/anvil where the issue is. If the nets not cut at all anywhere along the net its likely to be a non knife/anvil issue eg. Clutch or spring. I'd get someone to work the baler by arming the knife and then net a bale and you should see what going on. It's a very simple system

Are the springs tight enough? The ones that pull the knife against the anvil ?? It should trip with a good thud and when tripped against the anvil it should have a good contact eg needs a bit of force to pull it off the anvil

Is the net got enough tension on it? make sure the disc brake at the side is adjusted correctly, the net needs to be pulling hard to cut when the knife trips.
If its just started doing this after sitting I'd guess the clutch at the side may be seized or stuck somehow.
Mine worked well once I got the hang of setting it right.

Is the knife right in home each end of the holder? Ours wriggled out one end just a few mm and that caused so much grief we just about pulled the pin and sent it off the cliff!!

If it’s like the 445 then I’ve had the bolts in the anvil come loose so you don’t get a nice cut and then it drags the tails in when you start baling again.hard to get too to tighten up but easy to get a seventeen on nut at top and see how tight it is
