Lambing losses.

Horrible morning in contrast to yesterday its wet and cold 3 dead lambs and the rest look miserable as feck ewes are hungry for feed now the bit grass we had has gone they getting cake and fodder beet bit doesnt satisfy the same as grass

Four more premature dead lambs picked up this morning. From what I’ve read whether it’s Toxo or Campy can’t do much about it now. Shows the importance of vaccination. These ewes weren’t vaccinated when younger because we couldn’t get hold of vaccines at the time
Were these off home bred or bought in sheep?

Dropped a cow in the knacker wagon the other day and its head was sticking out the top…I said Christ you must have some bodies in….he said he’d just picked 23 ewes up off one spot
Suppose it depends how big a flock he has, we'll probably end up 23 down this time.
Too many for one pick up tho maybe!🤔
Been a tough year for sheep.

I took some abortion problems to the government lab for testing last year and the head guy said they traditionally saw Enzo, Toxo, Campy in that order but the last 2 years Campy is the number 1 cause.
That’s interesting, had two so far and we are fully vaccinated apart from a few last year when we couldn’t get toxovax. Always feared compylobacter.
