Jump or blow awayI’ve used captain quite heavily
And I’ve been using peace so herd PLI should jump a bit
Good god. Does his chest width and condition score not terrify you?I’ve used captain quite heavily

It's a conundrum for sure , I've always been dubious about captain, wondering if his proof was overinflated due to the way he was marketed. There is no doubt now he's the most productive bull in the history of the breed .Good god. Does his chest width and condition score not terrify you?

His production figures are definitely showing in my herd. His daughters are milky and not as narrow as his proof suggests. It's a conundrum for sure , I've always been dubious about captain, wondering if his proof was overinflated due to the way he was marketed. His proof suggests there going to go dry at a low body condition score, i've always found second calvers in poor condition really don't milk that well and have fertility and lameness issues.Such extreme production as heifers might require a longer lactation or certainly some very intense feeding. I have got a few so guess i'll find out.His production figures are definitely showing in my herd. His daughters are milky and not as narrow as his proof suggests.
Yes time will tell. I personally would always take a leaner cow however, but not extreme thin. They’re my highest yielding heifers this year, I’m paid for white water so suits me. Woulda are good still, currently looking at a heifer now, Captain x Balisto 211 DIM, Pregnant 116 days, Giving 34.8 at 4.53%Fat & 3.32%Protein.His proof suggests there going to go dry at a low body condition score, i've always found second calvers in poor condition really don't milk that well and have fertility and lameness issues.Such extreme production as heifers might require a longer lactation or certainly some very intense feeding. Would you prefer a proven bull or genomic?Yes I do register with Holstein UK
Probably use more genomic than anything but in saying that I used brewmaster when he was proven and more recently used chief when he was proven.Would you prefer a proven bull or genomic?
Supposing iver got nearly 60 almamaters on ground, perhaps throwing captain on them wouldnt be such a disaster
