You just have to do what you can with what you have got. I just use my own barley plus some bought and get a mill wagon in to crush and add a little mollasses and acid. Tip Davidsons general purpose cake(£298/ton) in next to it and shovel the two into bags. If i feel strong i feed more barley in the mix and into troughs. If i dont feel so good i feed more cake in the mix and find the driest part of the field i can and feed on the floor.Would it keep the protein high enough? Probably not far off.
Would you up the barley to 60%?
Not very scientific but the ewes have lambs every year.
If i was a rich man,i would feed rolls through a snacker on the floor.
