Hoggs maybe… feeding ewe job has been very flat until Ramadan. Hardly exciting

Tbf I would agree ewes not been that great this year , until last two weeks or so

Ewes always do jump in late March/early April, always have done.

Honestly, until mid March ewes were nowt special at all. Been great since then but a ewe eats a lot of keep from October to March

Ewes with you down there are totally different to ewes up here though… and up till just lately Ciren has been having areal trade from what you’ve said and by the reports?

My old ewes have average£135 , im happy witj that .

We always had 20t as soon as the new season crop started. Then another 20t January ish. In those big paper sacks and always shreds. Grandad fed all those old broker hill ewes right through from tupping to lambing on nothing else. Finishing hoggs just got beet pulp, drop the paper sacks in the hay racks and cut a few holes in the sack. I can remember it being £60/t when I were a little nipper. And it had way more feed value to it then.

Deadweight firms will be liking hoggs with teeth up and poor sorts coming through dragging the average down so they can drop the price. Glad I’ve got the last of mine all away. Another 8 weeks or so and we will be starting this years.
