Still waiting for the penguins to bugger off, earliest I've seen swallows around here was on 31st march 2020 but its usually around mid April before thy turn up.
What Swallow in its right mind would come here yet!! Feeding calves, taking as long as I can under cover, 4 warm layers back on + wooly hat, freezing gale blowing with hail showers. Having said that, 1st Chiffchaff here 3 days ago .. but he's gone ever so quiet since!!
None yet, thought I had a glimpse of one mid week, but can.t say sure.
Had a load of Lapwings over a week ago, but have moved on. Oystercatchers nesting or very nearly are.
Got a lot of Geese getting very persistent, back within an hour of having a rocket in their midst.
Free shooting if anyone interested.
Probably around 200 flying around the lodge next to us today. Just passing through though, they won't be in our yard for a week or two yet. Weather was terrible when I saw them, there can't have been many insects, they were flying very low.
1st swallow buzzing round the lambing park on the 8th of April (Monday) here.
Saw a Kingfisher on my way back over the beck tonight, they're here all the time, but it's nice to see that electric blue 'flash' as you cross the bridge.
Two nights ago spied what must have been a hundred or more swans heading north, was an impressive sight in their different batches and formations spread probably a couple of miles wide across the sky just as dusk was falling
