2800 Acres To Be Rewilded

Lower Pertwood Farm near Warminster, a 2800 acre downland arable, sheep, and cattle unit is to be all reverted back to grassland, with trees planted and lightly grazed with cattle, sheep, horses and pigs. I can't do links, but perhaps somebody will, just google 'Lower Pertwood Farm rewilding' There's loads of info there including a link to a video.

Is that the organic one ? Been by many times, while it's sad to see farming stop we have to remember that farming is a business just like any other and if it pays more to take up these schemes then so be it. In a few years they will be getting large amounts to rip it all out again.
If Tesco's were paid more to plant trees or have solar panels and not sell food they would grasp it without a second thought

The third generation of the previous owning family changed it over to organic, then sold it about 20 years ago to Wilfred Mole, a South African based british multi milionair busnessman. When he acquired the farm, it was less than 2000 acres but he has bought adjoining land as it became available. Google 'Sandstone Estates' and you will find out about his South African property. He has a full size steam railway there which they use for transporting their produce.

Rewilding or this …

Over 3000 acres of solar panels proposed on the Sainted Isle. So big that the planning decision is taken away from the Council and indeed Welsh government and decided in Westminster

I know that Anglesey gets promoted as the “Energy Island” but this is taking the p!ss

Rewilding has been going on in the Scottish Highlands for years.Tens of thousands of acres but they are now realising that without livestock all they are doing is creating an environmental desert. The more forward thinking ones are now starting to reintroduce cattle and honestly you would think it was a brand new idea. A friend of mine is taking full advantage and the area where he has his cows is the only area to see an increase in biodiversity and bird life.
