How big is the pump? It will be an inductive load so a relay will do the job but a contactor will last a lot longer.

Relay - a model I had not seen before but would do the job nicely

one like this, central heating pump,
leoldshite_1.jpg

slowest speed which will do says 40w i think

but the controller only deals with low amps, its only a little simple system,
too mcuh solar thermal hot water in summer is the prob. i need to get rid of some at that time.

Our solar thermal set up gets a bit hot sometimes like in the summer when it's well sunny I just want to dump some of the heat off at them times I am going to build zbit bigger store for it but in the mean time starting up the central heating system such as it is would do it, take a few degrees off tge damp for most of the rest of the year empty spare room could do with a good dry out then
The 12v controller of the solar thermal system has an over heat setting li,e when the pael bets to about 70 degrees it will trip a dump valve or someti g to cool things down it would in theory power a relay to switch the mai s central heating pump on and off but it's whatz needed for that how to wire it is my prob.

What someone does now when the temp is getting high is use dome of it or switch on the central heating pump manually.but thats only when someone's indoors at the time of course

I need another or bigger tank really to store not waste it . That's a bit more of a plumbing challeenge tho.

No not me, I will be best to add storage capacity /thermal store ..., when I get chance in the mean time I will. Have to have baths more often and in the middle of the day😳
Will never have smelt so good ha ha
When its long sunny weather it becomes a victim of its own success...

What about a pipe stat?
I use one to turn on my ch pump in house , solid fuel stove - boiler .
Example
Yes but its nothing to do with the central heating .

its a 12v solar thermal system and the temperature controller works fine.

Yes i see what is meant now my brain didnt cotton on, apologies to @tomlad because actually yes that might be the answer, if i could fit one somewhere apropriate and that it would switch on the pump at about 65 degrees at the base of the tank .
Ill give it more thought that could actually work reliably and keep the 2 circuits work independantly of each other but complimatary ...
thanks .
Is there any place on tank or pipe to attach a pipe stat like tomlad suggests
