Which Older 120 to 150 hp Tractor?

Renault 630z
Or
Case IH 1445XL
Or
McCormick MC135
Or
Fastrac

or any other suggestions.

Budget around £15k. Not buying now but maybe later next year.

For a bit of draft work, easy, cheap and simple to use and maintain. Doesn't need high road speed. Reasonably smooth ride preferred.

Thanks.

NH TM140 or 155. Case MXM is the same in red, maybe a grand cheaper than the blue one? Ford 8360 a similar machine.

Fastrac won't be without problems at 15k, McCormick not the puppy for draft work, Class hydraulics not very straight forward, nor the tractor very robust imv. 1455 good for draft work, but distinctly old skool, lots of levers, no shuttle, no suspension, no change on the go gears. Collectors now making them expensive.

For half the budget consider a late MF3645 or 3655. Dynashift box and ccls hydraulic versions particularly. Comfy, simple, reliable. Far better than the 8100series that replaced them.

I disagree with the 8100 series bit but your spot on with the rest(y)

Recommending a 36 over a 81 is a bit strange when you consider they are the same tractor with a better cab?
36 or 81 with open centre hydraulics is the one for simples and @masseybreaker just down the road for bits, can't get much cheaper to buy or run.
My thoughts exactly, my 8130 is a good tractor and quite a nice place to spend a day, id really like a 8220 tho

Having bought a s/h 8130 a few years back that turned out to be a heap of trouble (hopelessly unreliable), a 6170 from new that spent more time getting fixed than working, and a 6180 that, though much better, wasn't without issue, I have a bit of experience of these tractors, and associated pocket pain.
By comparison, a 3085 we had from new gave very little bother, and the 3075 we have now has been here since it was 8yo with 3600hrs, now 14years later it has 10200hrs on, and has had a clutch, radiator, a set of pick up hitch bushes, cab fan resistor and a new seat. Its not been a tootle tractor either.

IME the 81's were a cheapened variation of the proven 36's. Daft things like linkage consoles and switches are far less robust etc.
I share your veiw re open centre being simple (and a oc hydraulic pump is a quarter of the price of a ccls one) but ccls much more pleasant to use - I had two 6290's, one open centre, one closed - - night and day different in terms of flexibility and usability - things like being able to lift the drill marker while the 3pl is still lifting the combi is suprisingly handy (and saves bending markers in tough going!)

61/81 cab is marginally bigger, but a 3000/3600 cab is still a perfectly pleasant place to spend a day, dont have issues getting our guys to drive the 3075.

Each to their own though!

I would have thought either the McCormick or the Renault would be your best bet for that money./ A 1455XL is either going to be expensive if it's any good, or clapped out. The Fastrac IMO is exactly in it's name, so will be a compromise you say you don't need.

If it were me and i wasn't being too set on any one brand i would just see what came along that ticked the boxes.

My buying criteria now always includes some form of suspension, clutchless shuttle, Press button gearchange and electric linkage controls.

This now pretty much gives me a choice of anything mainstream built in the last 15-20 years.
