Only just managed to get some beans in yesterday and still more to go. Lots of acreage to cover yet with sowing but as with everyone else the calander keeps turning! Just not enjoying what may come at the weekend now we are slowly starting to dry!

Started ploughing up a block of ground that’s been in grass/sting nettles for 50 years + going into barley, worried about winter 2024 straw price. Not a stone in site.

looking at the forecast here on several different sites there is just a chance we might get there, as usual living in hopes. Im not for rushing cos if sp b isnt in in good conditions its a waste of time and resources , beans we sowed last fri sat are now well broken the skin so half a chance if the pigeons and crows will feck off somewhere else.

How’s it going in France @czechmate @nxy any other frenchies
Lots of soul searching early last week and then decided to drill 20 hectares of maize in conditions that were a bit damp but just about warm enough, confirmed with a soil thermometer. Last couple of days we have had frosts so seed is just sat there not doing much. We have lots still to do so needed to make a start, that's my excuse nothing to do with impatience.

For grain or silage?

Horrible but done @ 350kg/ha and rolled. It’s for seed to grow on so don’t need a big yield anyway.
