Anyway the ponds in the spring barley are slightly smaller today. Can we get the first dry 24hr period in April. Seems not based on forecast

Yes straw for next winter is becoming the main worry for livestock farmers . I think there will be either alot bedded on hay , kept very sh##ty or cutting stock back because of it.

Too late for spring wheat, spring barley, well, sow it thick and hope for the best? I'd be putting the nitrogen on in the seedbed or behind the drill as soon as possible if it was me, too.

Doubt there is any / many farms in the whole of the country thats liking this deluge for months continually regardless of suitability ...

Some of my spring barley had its nitrogen 3 weeks ago. Unfortunately it's still waiting on having its seed, but you can't have everything I suppose...

There’s people near me who haven’t been able to get spray or fert onto there winter barley and it looks terrible

be another 2 weeks before I make a start on spring barley and the fert be going on as soon as it’s sown

I've not sprayed any winter crops yet. They aren't suffering though. Plan is to start tomorrow.

Managed to do 2 patches of winter wheat yesterday but didn't dare look into the winter barley fields.......

The stats show that the UK does better agriculturally from below average rainfall. We know this and discuss every year.

Indeed. Certainly for winter barley the biggest limitation to yield is lack of sunlight.
