Could it be conceived that anyone involved with the initial post put themselves forward and defend what they are advertising? I'd expect anyone proud and confident of what they are promoting to defend it when questioned?

nothing to “defend”. it’s an invite to an event about data centres ……… if not interested don’t go !

I'm absolutely interested Clive, that is why I posted again. You're very defensive over this thread, is it partially your baby or vested interest? I am highly concerned what is too good to be true is still the case and that the op should answer some questions. I'm not a desperate farmer, but I diversify. If I were a desperate farmer and took a desperate leap to a very sketchy diversification such as this I'd want some clarity. As the boss off TFF you should promote that 100%. Very few have your pockets Clive and a foul move could cost them their entire life's work. So make sure the pixie dust is good for farmers please.

Hi LP,

I understand some of your concerns and worries about the crypto industry. To clarify, our business and the event in question is not about crypto, we are hardware providers that work with farmers (and others) offering high powered servers to turn your leftover space (and power if you generate it) into mini-data centres. We want to help highlight some alternative methods to diversifying your farm and to show how farmers all over the country are using data centres and high powered computers to monetise leftover space and leftover energy. We have helped over 60+ farms to install data centre hardware all over the country, and we have had our work shown in BBC, Farming weekly, and more. There is even a documentary on documentary+ exploring our work with some of our clients. I'm highlighting this as we really don't hide anything, we want to help educate people and show them the amazing opportunities that exist for diversifying their farms. Which is why we are holding this event.

Of course, some people do not like the idea of this, but the event is here to offer an educational talk about it, to offer a Q&A session for any questions, and to network with other farmers and discuss thoughts about the topic and day. We want to help people to understand that options like this exist and show how new technology can be adopted by the agricultural sector. We will show you in-real time what machines like this do, and are even offering guests the chance to come and look at our own facility to see how a mini-data centre works in real time.

Many thanks for the response. I guess anyone on urban fringe with poor pv feed in tariff could do very well judging by your reply? Sorry to be sceptical, I am genuinely interested. I've plenty of space, but no excess power/ oversupply as still on national grid. Maybe I'm the prime candidate for your talk and should just come along to hear what you've to say

Options like what we offer work well if you just have a standard plug and internet, the reason it works even better for Farmers is because they often have more space and sometimes even have their own power, but if you just have a plug and internet connection it can still be a very viable option. We run our own machines off the Grid here at our facility, and they still offer great results. We would be happy to show and explain that all to you at the event LP.

Anyone can indeed do this - I visited a data centre in Kings Heath in birmingham recently. But the conversations I have been having with the UK Agri-tech Centre (https://ukagritechcentre.com/) have been about how useful computing power would be on farms, for use on any agricultural data processing requirement.

The "waste" product of heat can also be used on farms too. So they can even pair with greenhouses, poly tunnels, vertical farming, etc. Actually with the later it would work in towns and cities too.

With just a internet connection and a plug socket you too can join over 70 farms currently earning up to £1.27 ppkw ~ 201% ROI

Tuesday, May 21 · 10am - 2pm GMT+1

Location: Village Hotel Bury, Rochdale Road, Bury, BL9 7BQ

The Farming Forum has teamed up with the award winning hardware manufacturer Easy Compute to bring you an educational talk about how AI and blockchain technology is helping farmers to diversify their land.

Over the past 7 years, Easy Compute have been working with farmers, agricultural businesses, and renewable energy farms all across the UK to help turn leftover space into mini data centres. With their support, education, and services, farmers have been able to generate upwards of £1.27 PPKW and an ROI of 201% without the need for building permissions, extra staff, and all the other hassles associated with the more traditional routes available to landowners and farmers.

Conducting talks all across the UK at some of the biggest farming and agricultural shows, Josh Riddett (CEO) has been working with farmers to show them alternative options of income. His work has been covered in the amazon documentary Crypto Farmers, in various publications such as the BBC, Energy Now, Farmers Weekly, and many more.

This talk will cover the following topics:
  • Current issues facing the farming industry and renewable energy sector
  • Alternative diversification models outside of the traditional routes
  • Why are data centres appropriate for farms?
  • How can data centres create passive returns with less restrictions and no extra staff requirements?
  • What is AI?
  • What is the Blockchain?
  • A look at some of the farms currently utilising this technology and how they are generating £1.27 PPKW and a 20% ROI
Lunch will also be provided on the day as well and we will have a Q&A section to make sure you have the chance to ask any questions that might be on your mind. Since Josh's manufacturing facility is also based in Bury, there will be the chance for people to head over to the warehouse after the talk to see the machines in person and how they work.

So, if you have a plug socket and an internet connection why not find out how you can utilise it to make a truly passive revenue stream for your land, farm, and business. It might sound like pixie dust and magic beans, but Josh and the team will be on hand to show you the wonders of this amazing opportunity. Learn how over 70 farmers across the UK are benefiting from modern technology and the world of mini-data centres from leading industry experts.

First off, your post mention 20 and 201% ROI.

Clarity here would be helpful?

Like many I am sure, we have space and power. Can you give us a worked example of a typical set up, space needed, power and internet requirements, figures invested and frequency and amount of payback please.

What are the variables between sites?

Bury is a long drive for many, I am sure

Judging by Companies House Josh Riddet has done very well but not 201%ROI, 100% near as dammit which is a fine figure. Judge a book by its cover and at best you're at 100% roi else why on earth is such successful business not investing in its own technology to gain the other 100%? Its an impressive sum for a newish business. Initially the post was about crypto currency, then data centres for 3rd party, then data centres for on farm data storage as cloud alternative? Cloud is a data centre? Sorry, I just don't get it other than Josh has been doing very well but goalposts change..

Hey Everyone - Josh here Ceo of both branches of the the business. I thought it might be nice to hear things from the horses mouth so to speak -

I founded Easy Crypto Hunter back in 2017, primarily to serve the rapidly growing need for GPU based mining hardware to power the growing crypto market- in order for the coins to move around you need machines to process those transactions and you can effectively earn a service fee for the provision of that service . For the last 6 years this has been our bread and butter and we have grown to be one of the largest hardware providers in the uk- hand building all of our equipment just outside of Manchester.

With the development of of the Artificial intelligence market it became clear that it too required vast amounts of compute resources that predominantly required the same base hardware ( computer graphics cards ) to process the huge data required in that sector . I then took the company down this new path and created the co brand of Easy Compute to serve the need for this market and after deploying vast amounts of internal capital on research and development, we used our multi year history in the sector to bring forward in our 7th year a new 2 in 1 product that can both mine crypto OR receive payments in £ direct to your bank from rentals to the AI compute space - essentially think of these new systems as Air BNB for computers .

Its no secret that the crypto market is very volatile , however over the past 15 years its been one of the highest preforming asset classes and our clients have historically reaped excellent rewards . The new opportunity for AI compute rentals simply make the machines an even more attractive proposition as they now cross two entirely different markets and many of our new clients have no interest in crypto but are very happy receiving pounds and pence for their machine rentals . The ability for the systems to switch between how they earn their revenue should go a long way to smooth out any negative market forces that you may have historically have been exposed to in the crypto world and make the overall business case that bit easier to digest.

I entirely appreciate peoples scepticism to this - but equally this was a similar level of repulsion that people had 15 years ago when the first solar or wind turbines were installed with getting paid for the power they produced all being too good to be true -until it wasn't and is now a very commonly understood revenue path for the sector, with many wishing they had entered that market earlier when the tariffs were higher. At this point no one is putting their head above the parapet , we are live on over 65 farms across the uk, with over 350 total clients.

My goal for the business as we continue to grow is to take advantage of the need for distributed computer processing power and match that with the under utilized resources found present in the farming community offering best case solutions for problems across both market sectors.

Is crypto a scam - well we get asked that question plenty and 15 years ago one could make a good argument for both yes and no. Few simply realise just how far we have come today . Bitcoin is now an SEC approved regulated asset class meaning you now buy bitcoin on the US stock exchange with the FCA approving a similar notion for us brits later this year. At this point we are talking about a multi trillion dollar market that is just much more developed than people realise.

Regarding the future of artificial intelligence - well no one can escape that from being in just about every news article and every place we look right now. Trying to hold back the tides of change is no longer possible ,and just like the growth of the internet in the 90s and early 2000's more demand means more physical processing is required and that's ultimately the service we provide.

The purpose of this open day is exactly to address these things head on - to answer the concerns and questions whilst giving you potential real solutions to the very complex farm diversification issue many people are facing at the moment topped off by an in person visit to my personal data centre which ive heavily invested myself into.

My aim is to simply educate and inform and let you guys make up your own minds as to how this might be of interest to you moving forward . At best case you may have found the solution you are looking for, earning very healthy returns from nothing but a plug socket and an internet connection with no extra staff requirement and no members of the public to contend with and the potential tax benefits of the equipment offering the final cherry on top! At worse case its a nice day out with a free lunch meeting other likeminded farmers who share your passions whilst learning a thing or or two about crypto and AI and how they might play a big part of modern business moving forward. In either case i would like to think there is great benefit to all.

I cant wait to meet you all in person at the event,

Kind regards
Josh

I am fairly diversified already and not afraid of new ventures, so would potentially be interested. I do, however, have a heathy cynicism of sales talk of high return on investments.I am sure your company is genuine but frankly 200% is pie in the sky, if it was possible then you wouldn’t need farmers, you would have investors queuing up to rent units and get some of the action. I suspect that may be a notional gross return but are you allowing for proper overheads such as machinery depreciation( I’m assuming the equipment will depreciate quickly?), rental equivalents, space is money round here, and other overheads. I know that’s what the open day is for, but if you could explain a little more on the business side, rather than the tech side it would help me make a decision whether to attend or not. Thank you.

I would be interested in more info aswell, I've registered but it's a long way to go to find out its not for me.

Just about to refurbish some industrial units that are suitable for solar but won't have sufficient use to justify the outlay.

Filling them will computer's instead of people would be very attractive

Hi Josh,

Thanks for the update.

As others have said we need a worked example off you if we are to travel to see you.

Like others we have plenty of use for heat and an awful lot of renewable energy at our disposal in various locations with space to boot.

Please can you offer a worked example from one of your existing farms please?

I have a few questions I hope you'll openly answer.
Cryptocurrency is a scam, one of the worlds biggest?
Cryptomining is essentially a hacking system that uses immense amounts of energy to produce algorithms that earn/create cryptocurrency, a currency not recognised by any state, country or continent?
Mining cryptocurrency is devaluing a valueless fallacy and feeding corruption with more corruption?
I'm all up for making money, but I do value my integrity. Is crypto mining for me?
If you can mine thin chalk then crypto mining is for you🤣🤣

That's really unhelpful Huno, we have very very deep chalk but very thin soil... could you turn the crystal ball on its head and tell me I could do very well removing my farm from... my farm?

Let the crypto miners be miners! We do it with very thin soil.. they do it with crypto.. who has the right to judge.. on this one.. no... leave them too it. . Sorry if that comment offended you.. i just think perspective is key.. neither mining very thin soil or crypto mining is illegal yet.. just a view😊

Chris, that's shite of tall order, farming is still very simplistic. I'm not sure who you are but Clive2? What you've said is beyond anything we've been told.

I am sort of digging this as utter exploitation of the system we have.

Fool the gullible
Make them freeish bollox currency that doesn't exist
Do it off surplus eco energy with good pay vs feed in tariff
Dry the bulls balls before he spunks me another £1000 profit
Mitchell and Webb.................
I cannot lose. I have got it... send me the signy thing I'm in, I'm in. But I'd like my free supper first.
I've looked into collecting heat a lot, it doesn't stack up and never will

How do data centres work without huge amounts of power and great internet connectivity? I can't think that there are many rural locations that will fulfil these requirements.

I was wondering the same thing, it surely can only ever process at the speed of your Internet connection for cloud.
