The makeshift camps are being cleared. Good , they're dreadful.
Proper Asylum hostels are available but if they claim in France then they can't claim in the UK.
French can't get them on the boats fast enough

But the police aren't helping them to find proper asylum hostels, they are using violence and intimidation which pushes them into dangerous channel crossings. Let me just remind you what the article in the Independent said

He said: “I have to go to the UK because France is not accepting us. The worst is that every few weeks the police are coming and destroying our tents and blankets everything, and then we just have nothing in the rain.
“I just want to work and have a safe life. We want a peaceful life, we hope we can have that in the UK because we do not have it here. Why this endless torture of ripping apart our tents every few weeks?”
Charity workers explained that they had seen an increase in police aggression in the past six months, which they said was forcing migrants to make more risky attempts at Channel crossings."

The question was, why is the U.K. a much more attractive destination for them than elsewhere when we keep being told how bad things are in the U.K, not one rejoiner has offered a credible explanation and of course automatically deflect from how they are treated in France and Ireland. Of course if it was us doing that they would never shut up about it

The UK takes a tiny fraction of refugees others do.
The UK quite often deports it's own citizens too so I don't think it can credibly claim France or Ireland is worse.
