Well I was very pleased with the cheque from last weeks sales. The sheep I had been cursing for slow growth made double what the goods ones sold for in the back end, more than paid for their extra feed. Cull ewes made far more than I paid for them as yearlings too. I might be less happy when I need to buy in the Autumn I can see yearling prices being eye watering 😬

Well I just heard the AHDB spokesman say " it's been difficult for the arable and livestock farmers with the last7 mths weather but thankfully we can offset the problems with imports" ........
...we have no change with pillocks like this representing us !
Well they say that shite floats to the top and this is what is happening with these officials be it quangos or government departments.🤬🤬

Everyone is getting excited about this, but is not the livestock farmer happy that a shortfall in cereals can be offset with imports rather than pay £500 / ton for barley?

I didn't get his name ... I was so flopping angry berating my poor old OH about it .
Where did you see/ hear this prat who is promoting imports to cover up the lack of UK produce/ meat due to the severe weather the last few months?

You should start a thread in Agricultural Matters about what this person said @Hfd Cattle as it beggars belief that the AHDB are openly now in the media encouraging imports of produce/ meats to undercut UK produce/ meat etc!

Shipments of New Zealand lamb have dropped to a third this last three months due to the troubles with the direct shipping route through the Suez canal. It's costing 20 more times than the normal financial cost to insure the cargo. A big factor in the bouyant lamb trade. 1800 tons instead of 5500 tons.
