Due to my blood pressure being slightly high , my doctor has put me on a course of
Amlodipine medication, to hopefully lower my blood pressure.
May be coincidence but a few days after taking it, I have felt like I have a continuous slight hangover, most unpleasant as when walking I sometimes feel slightly “woozy” in my head, but ok sitting down as I write this thread.
Has any one else suffered similar symptoms when taking Amlodipine?
Many thanks

There is a blood pressure thread else where with lots of contacts there who know these things, but for your pease of mind I possibly had that medication 4 or 5 years ago, and felt so tired and knocked out I went to the Doctors, who changed my meds to Larcandapine with immediate results. And i never thought it might be my medication

My Mum got all kinds of side effects when first put on blood pressure tablets. Tried two or three different ones all with unpleasant side effects. Eventually they settled on a very low dose of two different drugs in combination which has worked well for her. Speak to your GP, it is quite common to need to change or adjust dosages on blood pressure medication to start with til they find what works best for you.

Read the leaflet and it will mention those. It dilates the vessels to reduce the BP but also does the same in your head which is a closed pressure chamber so headaches and dizziness is common

Been taking it for years no prob, forget/run out sometimes, no difference. BP under control.

Dentist said gums affected by this medication, so scrupulous with interdental brushes

Ask your quack for an alternative and see if any difference?

Hope you find a solution.

5mg Amlodopine.
Keeps things in check for me.
No adverse effects that I'm aware of.
When I picked up the prescription he pharmacist recommended taking it in the evening to start with because it càn make you light headed but it didn't affect me. I'm hopeless,I keep forgetting to take the feckin things

Im on Rampril 10mg as well
But on the other medication, i worked during the day because you have to just get on with it, but as soon as i stopped, had a bath, I had a job to crawl out of it, and just dragged myself around untill bed time. As you say "totaly knackered"
As soon as i told the Doc, her FIRST THOUGHT change med to Larcandapine

Many thanks indeed for all your posts.
It really is great to be able to sensibly discuss health issues on TFF, as one then knows one is not alone.
Especially if you are a single person, with know one at home to discuss one’s problems with. Fortunately I can tell my wife whether I get much sympathy is a different matter ;)
Best not tell her about the side effect I suffer after taking a blue pill 🙀🤦🏻!!!!!!

2.5 ramapril here for 6 weeks. Lowered pressure a bit but not enough, so upped to 5mg. GP happy with pressure now. Not noticed any symptoms that I didn't already have.

Watch out if you’re on ramapril, it is known to cause depression and in serious cases suicidal tendencies. I took it several years ago and went from being just a miserable old codger to a miserable and sad old man! Now I’m off it I’m back to being my lovable old self!
