Has anyone mixed the dose for coccidiosis in with the milk when feeding bucket reared calves or will I just go to the trouble of dosing them and be lazy!! It for prevention as had some trouble last year
Been offered the banks of a reservoir for grazing. Stock fenced around the bottom, but unsure whether to bother fencing the top round the water… what do you all think?
Don’t want to waste my time or 1000 corner posts 🤣 but also, the liner is slippery if they do go a bit close to the water.
Just...
Currently using halacour or some variation of it. It’s a pig of a disease and I hate it. Calf shed gets cleaned as well as possible but no concrete. Is there any other solution or just keep on at it with halacour?

The cleaning out of a calf shed is vital in order to maintain growth performance and health in your calves during the rearing period.
Although water is used in the cleaning and disinfecting of sheds between calving seasons, it should not be used when...

We buy calves in batches of 10 or 12 from the market. There usually around the 6 week old mark. I was just wondering what other people who buy calves do when they get them home to get them settled in and on to there system as quick and as easy as possible?
What is a fair margin for the products we produce? Should we be looking for 10% return on investment (£1300/ac) or 10% of turnover (more like £60/ac)? With replacement tractor at £135k+ and spiralling labour costs these take some serious paying for and buying land is almost out of the question...
Anyone any idea what could be wrong with this calf? Found her with a very mucky back end as can be seen in the image... Apears to be like a bloody diarrhea, definitely blood coming too. Calf still seems lively and is eating corn and sucking it's mum but obviously something must be wrong. Thanks
