Finally got out on some fieldwork yesterday ahead of planting broad beans and turnips. Had to smile when the first song to come on the radio was “I can’t stand the rain”! 😁

Don’t often sell cattle fit but our issues with the shop means I’ll be trying my luck with this one tomorrow

Do you find that lambs with a swollen head tend to be good suckers.
I'm far from an expert, but the ones I've had this year were all very keen. I tubed last night's one and he had a bit of suck while I was doing it, but his head was that big he couldn't lift it.

We've had way too many hung this year. 4 fully out (2 dead/2 alive) and another 6 that were going that way. Only lambed 90 so far 🫣

Sugar beet was drilled Friday,no photos as contractors turned up at 7-30pm and by the time I got there it was dark, they finished about 17acres by about 11pm . Rolled rough bit of beet land but left the rest , while got rolls on I rolled a bit of spring barley and then put some stripes in a small grass field

Having a go at adopting my 'special' lamb from a fortnight ago, onto this angry so and so.

IMG_20240415_133850_HDR.jpg

I expected him to come and bleat at me when I went to check him tonight, but he appeared to have forgotten all about me (which was nice) 🙂

Rest of day was shocking, weather wise. Cold, sideways rain, hail, thunder and lightning and a tiny bit of sun between. Back to square one on the ground conditions 😞
