Too many spring calving herds now producing over supply this time of year. We need to get back to autumn calving to level supply.Dead on the backwards step too
I don’t think there’s much of an over supply…Too many spring calving herds now producing over supply this time of year. We need to get back to autumn calving to level supply.
Calf trade will ease towards the autumn as is usual, store trade will be similiar to now imo because beef trade is forcast to stay pretty much the same.Any one guess what calf trade is going to do and predict what stores are going to do later this year? I've slowed right up at the moment buying calves, only buying a few to replace what I'm selling
I’m 20 odd stirks short. Dad went off this morning to buy some and couldn’t believe what he was seeing! Good 30 day old calves around £500. Stirk ring would be 350ppk with people buying them and then moaning on saying I don’t know how I’m going to make these pay there far too dear. Then buying more he was in at plenty of O grade stirks but dropping out £200 under what they made. He said he was in at some 10 months Hereford heifers to £800 the sort that would only grow to a 300kg carcass, bidding finished at £980. Realistically someone is going to have to keep them for the next year for £400 on current fat price. Hopefully for the folk buying fat gets to £5.50-£6 dw in 12 months for them to get out. Great time to be selling thoughNo i can understand why calves have jumped so much in conparasion to stirk trade seem daft to me luckily i bought a batch of 20 a month ago so not desperate for anymore if there gunna say silly
Dunbia booked out for next month. Plenty cattle in system at moment unless a sudden upturn in demand.I don’t think there’s much of an over supply…
I would disagree as historically the shortest day and the longest day were considered the dearest time to sell cattle.Historically June was always a dodgy time for the cattle trade
For quite a few years recently the the trade in June hasn’t dropped as badly as it used to
Beginning of December was always good because they usually went up £150 that doesn’t mean they were the dearest that just means they had gone up from what they were due to paymentsI would disagree as historically the shortest day and the longest day were considered the dearest time to sell cattle.
