Phosphite stimulant in wheat?

Phosphites and other magic potions give marginal gains. Whether the gains exceed the cost on a crop that is lacking sunshine and enduring endless rain is another matter.

A tissue test would tell you what it's lacking at the point you took the sample. Test a good bit too as a comparison.

It’s excess of H2O that’s the main issue. Rolled it all yesterday and light parts of fields it’s particularly bad. Probably try and go in with more Mn end of this week. It just hasn’t bothered to put any roots down.

In the EU, biostimulant manufacturers must, since 2019, supply evidence of efficacy when placing a new product on the market:

The Fertilising Products Regulation (FPR) specifies that plant biostimulants should have the effect claimed on their labels. The justification for these claims (as well as compliance with the safety requirements) is verified by an independent body during the conformity assessment process. Manufacturers (or importers, distributors or other economic actors placing a product on the market) must submit a dossier of technical information and test results to a conformity assessment body when seeking the rate to use the CE - Mark on their plant biostimulants and to place them on the EU Single Market.

The same requirement is coming to the UK fertiliser regulations at some stage apparently, Defra has funded a review - I suspect the market will thin out spectacularly if this comes to pass. :)

In the meantime AHDB have this to say: https://ahdb.org.uk/knowledge-library/biostimulants-for-cereal-and-oilseed-crops

If it's any consolation our wheat looks 💩 too.

It was rolled a week today. Gave it more N this morning.

Got a spray plan out for It today. Haven't checked it yet.

Thanks for the honesty. Yeh it’s not far away from a T0 of growth reg. Will try and get some more N on the end of this week. Think I will be going for the little and often approach with N.

Two approaches - the reality one that says that what the crop needs is some sun on its back and that anything beyond some manganese will really just be lining someone elses pockets and theres nothing really you can do.......but also the pragmatic one which says that while you really know that, you would feel better having done something, and youd sleep better having spent a few £££ in trying to give it a bit of a boost.
Yes patience is a virtue seldom had by men! N sun and warmth but Mn and foliar will make you feel better.

Leaf tests last year showed an improvement using it, so been using it again this year.

These things all cost money, I will always admit that. But I do think they have a place in the armoury. But putting all of it everywhere, every year, on every field/crop etc isn't really on. There isn't that amount of fat left in the game for people to be spending their money like that.
