with both cull and calf price high, it does show a big difference, to a 'proper' cow

we have a pure jersey, that has to go direct, excellent condition, but she would make more in the mkt, bit dodgy on 1 leg.

saw 1 price, cull ewe £289, bloody amazing, obviously there's a mkt for mutton, but.

got given 300 beulahs one year, mate sent a lorry load to mkt, and after haulage, £4 in his pocket, said if you want them, come and get them !

not that many years ago, sent 2 jerseys direct, payment was £137 for both.

but, todays prices indicate one thing, the supply of prime beef, prime lamb, cull cows and cull ewes, there are insufficient to meet demand.

and with a proportion of dairy youngstock, and ewelambs, are going to the meat trade, rather than for breeding, the prices are going to stay high.

some claim calf price will be low, come the autumn, l will stick my neck out, and say they will be higher. The numbers will not be there.
