Interested in buying a farm - no experience

You could do worse than look at this - you sound like an ideal partner for someone young and keen who has the knowledge and energy, but needs the capital and business guidance. You could look at share farming with someon where you would take a more active involvement than traditional share...

    Cholmondeley farm complaint

I thought the same....if the farm is being run by a 3rd party contract farming company, surely they are the ones with a duty of care to the animals, not the landowner. Perhaps someone has enough influence at FG to get some selective editing

    Clarkson again

The Gerald moment was awful....and I think that JC really does like and care about his wider team, probably enjoys the fact that they are real people, not media luvvies. Hoping that G dog has made a good recovery and will feature in the coming episodes - he really made the first two series hilarious

    Insult?

I disagree, I'd say like Arla they accept there is a space in the market, like it or not, and they would rather fill it and profit from it rather than compete head to head. There is a certain chuckle factor in the case of Arla plant based in that the vegans will unwittingly be buying a product...

    Insult?

ok...Imagine if Coca Cola brought out a milk drink range and used their brand to promote it....milk sales rocket...would that be an issue? My basic point is that the brand belongs to Saputo and they cand do whatever they like with it....They paid nearly £1bn for it so I think we can assume a lot...

    Insult?

at the risk of being blunt, you are basically a raw material supplier to a manufacturer - they own the brand, and they could use it on however many products as they wish. Saputo bought DC, unless the brand has PGI status there is no limit, they could bring out Cathedral City Beer if they wanted

    Insult?

I'd say that was a bit f a sop to make local producers feel special.... I cannot see how milk from Somerset is different to milk from Devon or Cornwall, unless of course all the Somerset milk came from a different breed of cow on a completely different feeding regime? If they had the exact same...

Can a housed cow system be "regenerative"?

as I understand it's broadly down to feed intake, but the measure is per kg milk or meat so yes a 60 litre cow will produce more methane than a 30 litre cow who will produce more than a dry cow. The difference being the 60 litre cow will produce less per litre than 2 30 litre cows

    Evolution Farming

ah...you said "milk price"....profit is a different thing. ;) ..either way, no excuse for animal neglect

How do you optimize dairy farming practices to improve productivity and animal welfare?

Get heifers all calved by 25m, really focus on repro, heat detection and record keeping, with good vet input - slight lag, but a great ROI over 12-18m

    National Milk Records PLC.

I think NML pretty much has that sewn up - probably a very profitable offshoot of NMR

    National Milk Records PLC.

CIS very good locally, seem to have pinched a few from NMR of late

    National Milk Records PLC.

also own Kite Consulting which which will give them access to far more valuable data than NMR! Kite do a huge amount of work for milk processors, and retailers, every muller meeting is run by Kite, do a lot with Arla too I believe, now owned by one of the biggest feed suppliers, linked to grain...

Can a housed cow system be "regenerative"?

Grosvenor Farms av profit over last 4 years...£1.25m/year..... I'd say some of the low output dairy businesses are sailing closer to the wind according to some suppliers who are struggling to get paid

Can a housed cow system be "regenerative"?

I suspect they make a lot of money...very well run, very high output, good milk price etc.

Can a housed cow system be "regenerative"?

methane - if she produces less milk off same total feed the carbon footprint of the milk goes up
