I have a Jd 6140 and an Ford 8340, I have been buying transmission oil in 20l drums (probably the most expensive way)
My question is if I bought a 200l drum of hyguard would it be ok for use in the Ford?
And does oil lose any of its property’s ove the years, say if it’s not all used up in 5-10...
As above, what’s you trusty farm vehicle?
Many of you need them daily for livestock many are arable like myself
Mines a car, as it’s cheap as chips to run/tax and insure, can tow a trailer when needed.
Hi I’ve a bit of wasted space in the yard and would like to build a pole barn. Rest of the sheds are steel. So not sure how to go about this one as don’t know much about wood!!
Want it to look pretty as it’s at roadside and what I’ll be looking out at. (Something like picture below)

Recently I’ve joint the young hip dudes and dudettes in trying to get into listening to podcasts.
Are there any good farming, especially arable ones out there?
All I can find is the regenerative and carbon auditing type garbage which is no interest to my farm business.
I used to listen to a...
Hi. Would anyone know where the best place to get a good sprayer gauge for pressure would be. I’ve a silly little one on my gem that I can’t see. Would like 100mm and 1/4 fitting too. Seem to be very hard to source
Is there a kit or suitable pump to convert a PTO powered implement to hydraulic, sprayer and fert sower mainly. No 540e in the wee tractors and don’t want to have to listen to it growling away burning fuel needlessly all day. End up using the Deere all the time and it’s a bit overkill for the...
Up to now I’ve only ploughed but want to start a bit of min til as well.
Running Suffolk coulters
Most run discs around here now, is there much difference in discs? I like Bramleys vaderstad conversions best but a fair chunk of money.
Are weaving tine conversions a better option, I know...
Has anyone got a roll over cover made up for a trailer in N Ireland. Harsh and Covertech I’ve found in England are reasonable but postage is astronomical.
I know Cunningham and couple others do the sheets but I need arch’s made up too and can’t seem to find anywhere that does the complete kit...
For those using Claydon drill what do you use for stubble management. I know they recommend a straw rake, but would using a cambridge roller with paddles/or even tines give the required chit/slug egg removal/straw spread?
Trying to cut down the machinery costs as best as I can on a small acreage...
Hi. I was wondering if anyone has a Trimble field iq and switch box forsale.
I’m wanting to convert my case gem trailed into section control to my fm750 screen.
Is there a map for where people do more direct drilling over ploughing?
Moving on from the ploughing is bad thread, where is the cross over point. Is it only for the big south of England farms? Where is is dry and sunny and warm?
I’m in Northern Ireland, it’s damp and mild all year around. I...
I’m in process of giving my 8340 a wee mechanical tidy up and whilst I’m at it a wee lock of paint.
The hitch on it has been a bit of a bodge job by previous owner, doing away with swing out and welding a few bits that look like they’re cracking underneath.
I don’t do much Trailer work with it...
Does anyone use step down duals? I have two tractors. One on 20.8s and another on 580s. I need duals for top work and sowing tractor.
Would like 48” step downs to keep to 3m for roads, but do they give enough advantage in field to bother with or am I better getting 20.8s on duals. Going to use...
I am building a new grain store and want to harvest a big of rainwater. Only to be used for spraying
What is the best way to do this?
Obviously I’ll be plumbing off down spout into a tank.
My two main questions are
1: Do I need a double skinned tank to stop it cracking with frost (or just...
I was wanting to upgrade my Trimble FM250
it has great accuracy but I would like a bigger screen and something that’s easier to put field numbers in for.
It’s mainly used for spraying cereal and putting in the tramlines, pre ems and slug peppering etc
Options are so far.
Secondhand JD 1800...
I am building a new grain store. It will be 80x40 and split with a walls so basically 20x80.
I will be loading in and out with tractor and loader or tipping with trailers.
I really like the lishman and Evan’s and Pearce underfloor systems but will I be able load in and out with the pedestals...
Hi. Following on from a thread I posted last year I have decided to buy a second hand grain dryer budget of less than £4k hopefully £3k as it’s only used for a 100 or so ton at most but hopefully less.
questions I have of buying either, there seems to be a lot more gas ones for sale in this age...
