    7C at tops today and rain from the east for most of the time. I've been farming a long time and don't remember such a cold April. Fields up for silage are hardly moving, we can't finish planting because one field remains too wet. Not got as many cattle out as usual. Perhaps it will get warmer...

    Big Difference here in the forecast for today. Met Office said rain most of the day. Weatherdotnet's Garry Nicholson said less then 1mm. Thankfully we went with Garry's forecast which was spot on and drilled 24 acres peas/barley. At last a start.

    Grown it for over ten years. Suits our land and system. Usually plant around second week of April - won't happen this year.

    I seldom have a coffee at a motorway service station. Instead I go into the Waitrose or M&S shop and buy some proper milk which costs around 90p. Much nicer than the coffee on offer.
