You are right in one respect Putin has no choice, with the losses Russia have now suffered there is no going back from Russia's point of view, whatever the cost they will hold what they now control & Ukraine will stay out of NATO anything less & Putin & his generals are toast.

Russians won't agree to any deal unless Ukraine stays out of NATO so what a waste of Ukrainian lives.
