Iblon: a groundbreaking new active substance that delivers unrivalled broad-spectrum disease control.
A limitation of most fungicides is that they tend to be limited in their spectrum of activity. Iblon overcomes this limitation to deliver unrivalled broad-spectrum control. This means growers can achieve comprehensive protection against the principal foliar threats without having to compromise.
Ion iblon delivers control of Septoria tritici that is consistent with the existing standard
Yield boosting benefits in addition to disease control
Alongside unrivalled broad spectrum disease control, iblon has been proven to deliver yield benefits irrespective of disease pressure. Laboratory trials in controlled disease-free environments show that Iblon enhances green leaf retention more than untreated crops or those treated with Ascra Xpro. Field trials further confirm this greening effect, resulting in consistently higher yields compared to current standards, even in low disease pressure situations. This evidence establishes Iblon as a reliable solution that delivers value regardless of disease pressure.
iblon increased green leaf area by up to 107% compared with AscraXpro
Reference: Glasshouse trial, Bayer, Monheim, 2019. Application at BBCH 49. Treatments assessed 36 days after application.
The outstanding Leafshield formulation
Iblon is delivered through the outstanding Leafshield formulation to ensure high-level efficacy without compromising crop or equipment safety. Leafshield’s development is the culmination of more than 50 years of research expertise in the field of fungicide performance. The Leafshield formulation is widely respected across the industry having been introduced with Bayer’s Xpro range of fungicides including Aviator Xpro and Ascra Xpro.
The recognised benefits of Leafshield are:

iblon is a strong all-rounder. If you’re looking for good eyespot control combined with Septoria and yellow rust control early in the season, then it fits that timing really well. If you choose to use it at the T2 timing instead you will still get the activity against Septoria with the added benefit of brown rust control too.
Jonathan Blake, technical director of crop protection at ADAS
iblon is excellent on both yellow and brown rust and very good on Septoria. It is a more active SDHI on Septoria than existing standards, and the flexibility it will add to programmes will make it a valuable addition at either the T1 or T2 timing.
Adrian Howell, farm manager at Westacre Farms
We’ve had iblon + prothioconazole in farm trials for two of the past three seasons and it has impressed with its excellent control of Septoria from the T1 application. In 2021 it outperformed the then farm standard of Revystar and in 2023 it outperformed the current farm standard of Myresa + Priaxor + Arizona. In addition to producing higher yielding crops through better disease control, it sprayed well and there were no crop or equipment concerns.

Ion iblon delivers control of Septoria tritici that is consistent with the existing standard
- Septoria tritici: Iblon demonstrates excellent efficacy against Septoria in both protectant and curative situations, delivering a significant improvement in performance compared with the benchmark for control, Ascra Xpro (bixafen + fluopyram + prothioconazole)
- Yellow rust: In both laboratory and field trials, Iblon is proven to deliver class-leading preventative and curative yellow rust control to ensure longer lasting protection and greater flexibility in application timing against this aggressive disease.
- Brown rust: Iblon delivers outstanding brown rust activity to give reliable and persistent protection against this disease.
- Eyespot: Iblon in combination with Proline has been proven to deliver additional eyespot activity against both W and R forms of the disease compared with Ascra Xpro in laboratory dose response trials. This demonstrates that Iblon is inherently more active on this often-underestimated disease than the combination of, older carboxamide-based SDHI fungicides bixafen and fluopyram, as contained in Ascra Xpro.
- Mildew and Fusarium: On its own, Iblon has limited activity against mildew and Fusarium, but in combination with Proline – recognised for its strength against both diseases – the spectrum of activity is extended thereby ensuring comprehensive protection against the principal disease threats of wheat.
