I would imagine they would be able to cancel your contract. Possibly even charge you a fee if they have to cancel. Most things are hidden in the small print somewhere.

    Lameness detection and welfare

Assessed daily (ish). Number scribbled down on whiteboard. Whole herd properly recorded quarterly with pen & paper. Pens & paper supplied by companies we deal with either at Christmas or picked up at shows 🤣

    Lameness detection and welfare

Already got a similar system. Zero install & maintenance cost…its called eyes. I find it works pretty well & no comparison regarding price.

    Dairy startup

I do find it amusing that back in the day before “gap years” & buggering off to uni doing some meaningless course (as an excuse for a three year pee up) became so popular that youngsters could actually afford houses. Where as now very few of them apparently can.

App for scanning rows of books?

My other half has an app on her phone that allows her to scan the ISBN barcode on a book which then stores the title & allows her to keep track of what she has. She likes (loves) books, so between her & our two young children there’s quite a few books in our house! Seems a quick & simple system.

Alternative ways to pay for forager.

Smaller acreage, potentially no maize as only 2wd. Old ish but should be plenty of life if not pushed for not silly money...

Alternative ways to pay for forager.

Depends what they bought. You don’t need to spend big bucks on fancy shiny paint. You could pick up a perfectly serviceable forager for those acres for similar money to a new trailed.

Alternative ways to pay for forager.

A lot of the contractors down this way never seem keen to use farm fuel unless they have to. Which is why I suggested getting them to charge for fuel separately on top of a base acre charge for the machine. I’d be very surprised if they didn’t have a way to monitor fuel use.

    Thin O-Ring kit

Just happened to have changed some leaking o rings on our karcher in this last week. Went to my cheap, nasty, chinesium made, fleabay special o ring selection box & picked out the perfect ones. Not sure I’d want to rebuild something major with them but they do the basic jobs just fine.

Alternative ways to pay for forager.

You could ask if they could work out a per acre price & a fuel charge on top. In theory the lighter the cut would mean less fuel. Last year our forager costs varied between £23.50-29.50. Some of the lower price for the forager (also lower raking price) was because we had it merged behind the...

    Electricity tariffs/Prices

I know that. But it kind of defeats the point of this thread if everyone on here said “had a price for some electric today, ring them yourself if you want to know”…

    Electricity tariffs/Prices

Its just a quote we’ve had, but not going by these prices they won’t. Wouldn’t example prices be more useful than “this company is cheaper”? There appears to be lots of variables in pricing.

EDF over four different meters. The top one is the high use one.
